Product detailed description
Sportex Graphenon RS-2 Spin is a premium range of two-piece spinning rods for anglers who want low weight, precise lure control and a genuine reserve of power in one blank. Seven versions in lengths of 210, 240 and 270 cm cover finesse fishing for trout and perch, classic spinning for zander, asp and pike, as well as light saltwater spinning with soft lures, jig heads and compact metal lures.
The heart of the range is an extremely light and durable Helicore blank made from M40X and T1100 carbon fibres. The Medium Fast+ action brings the tip and almost the middle of the blank into play under load, while the lower section retains a firm backbone. In practice, the tip reads the lure clearly and cushions sudden runs, while the lower section helps drive the hook home at distance and keeps stronger fish under control.
In freshwater, the individual models divide naturally by lure weight and the length required. The shorter 210 cm version is accurate and easy to handle on smaller rivers, from a boat or around obstacles. The 240 cm models are the most versatile length for general spinning and working soft lures. A length of 270 cm adds leverage and reach when fishing from the bank, on a large river or reservoir, or wherever the line must be kept clear of a shoreline edge.
Graphenon RS-2 Spin is not designed as a heavy saltwater pilking rod, but its stronger versions make excellent sense for light saltwater spinning in Norway. For this style of boat fishing, 240 cm is the practical upper limit: the rod remains easy to control beside the gunwale, does not get in the way when landing a fish and allows precise work with a soft lure or jig. The 240 cm / 15–58 g and 240 cm / 18–77 g versions can therefore be used for pollack, saithe, mackerel, sea trout and cod in shallow to medium depths, provided the current is manageable and the complete lure stays within the relevant casting-weight range.
With a jig head and soft lure, always calculate the total weight of the complete lure, not only the figure moulded into the jig head. A 50 g jig head fitted with a 15 cm soft lure weighs more than 50 g. The 15–58 g version may therefore require a lighter head or smaller body, while the stronger 18–77 g model gives you more headroom. The same rule applies to SAF Torpedo and SAF Bullet jig heads with SAF PLASTI-X soft lures: the finished combination must remain within the tolerance range of the selected rod.
The 270 cm models have a different role at sea. They are not the first choice for a small boat, but they make sense for coastal spinning from a pier, rocks or an open shore, where the longer blank helps with casting distance and line control. The lighter 270 cm version suits sea trout and mackerel, while the stronger models add reserve for pollack, saithe and lighter cod fishing. The final choice always depends on the location, current, height above the water and the amount of safe space available for playing and landing fish.
The rods are fitted with slim FUJI KW / KL / KT SIC guides for smooth line flow with both monofilament and modern braided lines. The one-piece monocoque carbon handle with integrated reel seat transmits vibration extremely well, so bottom contact, a change in lure action and even a delicate take travel directly into your hand. A SEAGUIDE D-Hook keeper lets you secure the lure away from the guide inserts.

| 270 cm / 17–76 g | GS2713 | 60 g | 139 cm | 171 g | 9 | The strongest shore version for pike, zander, larger soft lures and fishing in current. | Stronger shore spinning for pollack, saithe and cod; from a small boat, the 240 cm version with similar power is more practical. |
The nominal casting weight is the manufacturer's reference figure for each model, while the range shown in the version name represents the lure-weight tolerance. Rod weight may vary by up to 8% as a result of manufacturing tolerances. The table is therefore a decision guide; the final setup must still be assessed by considering the complete lure, line diameter, current, depth and retrieve style.
For an angler who wants one Graphenon mainly for freshwater with occasional light saltwater spinning, 240 cm is the most versatile length. The 8–29 g model remains refined, the 15–58 g version is the stronger all-rounder, and 18–77 g is the most logical choice for more frequent boat fishing in Norway. If shore fishing and casting distance are the priorities, choose the corresponding power in a 270 cm length.
For targeted fishing at great depth, in a strong drift or with lures above 77 g, a dedicated saltwater jigging or pilking rod is the correct choice. Graphenon RS-2 Spin excels where a light setup must remain sensitive and precise but still cope with the hard run of a pollack, saithe, pike or larger zander. A strong backbone does not turn it into a heavy halibut rod.
Carbon blanks conduct electricity. Never use the rod during a thunderstorm or near overhead power lines, and always maintain a safe distance from electrical conductors when carrying it. Contact between a carbon rod and a source of electrical current can cause a life-threatening injury.
After use in saltwater, rinse the rod with a gentle flow of fresh water, wipe it down and allow it to dry completely. Check the guides, both section joints, reel seat and hook keeper; do not allow salt to dry inside the guide frames or reel-seat thread. Transport the rod broken down into its sections and never attach a lure to a ceramic guide insert.
SPORTEX provides a 10-year extended manufacturer's warranty on the blank. To activate it, register the rod within 30 days of purchase and retain the proof of purchase. The extended warranty applies to the blank; guides, reel seat, windings, varnish, handle and other components remain subject to the standard statutory warranty terms.
FAQ – Sportex Graphenon RS-2 Spin
Which version should I choose for light boat spinning in Norway?
The 240 cm models are the most practical. Choose 15–58 g for lighter soft lures and jigs with greater sensitivity, or 18–77 g for larger lures, stronger current and more reserve when targeting pollack, saithe or cod. For heavy pilking and deep-water fishing, use a dedicated saltwater rod.
Should I choose 240 or 270 cm?
Choose 240 cm from a boat because it is easier to handle beside the gunwale and makes landing a fish simpler. A length of 270 cm is better from the shore, a pier or rocks, where it improves casting reach and helps keep the line clear of the edge.
What do 60 g and the 18–77 g tolerance mean?
The 60 g figure is the model's nominal casting weight. The 18–77 g range is the manufacturer's lure-weight tolerance and is the range used in the version name. The rod normally feels most balanced around its nominal figure, although lure shape and water resistance also matter.
Can Graphenon RS-2 be paired with SAF jig heads and soft lures?
Yes. It is an excellent match for SAF Torpedo and SAF Bullet jig heads with SAF PLASTI-X soft lures, but the weight of the complete setup is what counts. Weigh the jig head and soft-plastic body together and keep the result within the tolerance of the selected rod.
Which version is the most versatile for fresh and saltwater?
The 240 cm / 15–58 g version is a very balanced choice for general freshwater spinning and lighter saltwater work. If the rod will travel to Norway more often or handle heavier lures, 240 cm / 18–77 g makes more sense. The finer 240 cm / 8–29 g model is better suited to perch, zander, asp and light coastal spinning.
Is Graphenon RS-2 Spin suitable for saltwater?
The stronger versions can be used for light saltwater spinning, but this is not a heavy saltwater pilking rod. After every saltwater session, rinse it with fresh water, allow it to dry and inspect the guides, joints and reel seat.
How does the 10-year SPORTEX warranty work?
The extended manufacturer's warranty applies to the blank and requires purchase registration within 30 days. Keep your proof of purchase. Other rod components remain covered by the standard statutory warranty, while damage caused by overloading, impact or incorrect handling is not a manufacturing defect.
