Product detailed description

SaBoFlex Airbrush Clear Coat is a transparent finishing coat for airbrushed soft lures. Applied over fully dried paint, its thin film helps seal the color layer, reduce handling wear and create a more uniform finish without another layer of hot plastisol.

The product is neither an airbrush paint nor a thinner. It is different from SaBoFlex Quick Dip Transparent for dipping and from Mold Oil used as a mold release. Clear Coat is used at the final stage of airbrush finishing.

The surface must be clean, dry and free from grease, with the paint fully dried. Products from different brands may react differently, so test every new paint, plastisol and clear-coat combination on one lure first.

Apply thin, even coats; a heavy wet layer may run, dry slowly and obscure details. No public technical data sheet currently specifies air pressure, nozzle size, coat count or drying time, so do not replace these values with general estimates. Follow the manufacturer's current instructions.

How to test Clear Coat safely

  1. Clean and degrease the lure, then allow the surface and color layer to dry completely.
  2. Check compatibility between the clear coat, paint and plastisol on one test lure.
  3. With effective ventilation, airbrush a very thin, even coat without runs.
  4. Let the coating dry fully in a dust-free area without touching the surface.
  5. Add another coat only when the previous one is dry. Clean the airbrush immediately with a compatible cleaner according to the product and equipment instructions.

Airbrush paints and equipment for soft lures

The coating may visually unify the colors and produce a glossier finish. Results depend on the plastisol, paint, coat thickness and drying conditions. It is not indestructible protection against teeth, hooks or abrasion.

If the lure will be laminated with clear plastisol, a separate Clear Coat layer is usually unnecessary. Use Clear Coat when you want a thin sprayed finish without dipping or applying another hot plastisol layer.

Choose 50 ml for testing and occasional use or the more economical 1 l pack for regular workshop production. The application method is the same.

Safe use of Clear Coat

  • The product is flammable. Keep it away from sparks, heat and open flames, and do not smoke.
  • Spray only with effective ventilation, preferably local extraction. Select respiratory protection according to the current safety data sheet; an ordinary dust mask may not protect against vapors and aerosol.
  • Wear suitable safety glasses and gloves. Avoid inhaling spray mist and prevent eye or skin contact.
  • Close and store the original container in a cool, dry and clean place out of reach of children. Follow the label and safety data sheet.

Frequently asked questions about SaBoFlex Airbrush Clear Coat

What is the difference between Clear Coat and Quick Dip Transparent?

Clear Coat is a finishing coat for thin airbrush application. Quick Dip Transparent is a separate dipping system. Do not interchange the products or transfer settings, cleaners or thinners between them.

Do I need Clear Coat before laminating with clear plastisol?

No. Laminating with clear plastisol usually makes a separate coating unnecessary. Clear Coat is an alternative way to seal the paint without another hot plastisol layer.

Can I apply it over paint from another brand?

Possibly, but universal compatibility is not confirmed. Different paints, plastisols and clear coats may react differently. Test every new combination on one lure before processing a larger batch.

How many coats should I apply, and how long does it take to dry?

Begin with one very thin, even coat. Coat count and drying time depend on thickness, temperature, ventilation and materials. Without the manufacturer's technical data sheet, no universal time can be stated safely. Add another coat only after full drying.

Which pack size should I choose?

Choose 50 ml for testing, small batches and occasional use. The 1 l option is more economical for regular production. Both are the same product type.
