Product detailed description

Guideline LPX Chrome 4-PC Fly Rod is a premium double-hand fly rod series for salmon, sea trout and steelhead fishing. It is built for anglers who want a light, stable and highly connected rod for modern Scandi, Spey and shooting head systems. The LPX Chrome action has a deep, progressive load that connects earlier in the cast, while keeping the speed, recovery and precision needed for long, controlled casts.

The blank is built with C.A.P M4.0™ technology, an advanced carbon layup designed to create strength, stability and a very distinctive flex profile. The action is best described as Full / Mid Flex with fast recovery. The rod loads deeper than many fast double-hand rods, but the tip remains stable enough to create sharp loops, lift sinking lines and generate high line speed with surprisingly little effort.

LPX Chrome is especially strong when fishing long hours, changing line densities and covering water efficiently. The low swing weight helps reduce fatigue, while the side stability of the blank keeps the fly line tracking cleanly during rotation and anchor-based casts. This makes the series suitable for everything from summer low-water salmon fishing to larger rivers, heavy heads and cold early-season conditions.

The shorter models 12'3" #6/7, 12'6" #7/8 and 12'9" #8/9 are excellent with compact heads, 3D+ Compact shooting heads and 4D Compact Body + Tip systems. The longer 13'9" #9/10, 14'9" #10/11 and 15'9" #10/11 models are stronger tools for bigger rivers, heavier sinking lines and original 4D / 3D+ shooting heads.

Frequently Asked Questions – Guideline LPX Chrome 4-PC Fly Rod

Which Guideline LPX Chrome 4-PC size should I choose?

Choose the shorter 12'3" #6/7, 12'6" #7/8 or 12'9" #8/9 models for smaller to medium rivers, lighter salmon, sea trout and summer conditions. Choose 13'9" #9/10 as the main all-round salmon model. The 14'9" #10/11 and 15'9" #10/11 models are best for bigger rivers, heavier heads and early-season fishing.

What makes LPX Chrome different from a standard double-hand rod?

LPX Chrome uses C.A.P M4.0™ blank technology with a Full / Mid Flex action and very fast recovery. This gives the rod a deeper connection in the cast, strong side stability, clean tracking and enough power to lift heavy sinking lines while keeping low swing weight.

Which lines work best with LPX Chrome 4-PC?

The shorter 12'3", 12'6" and 12'9" models work especially well with compact 3D+ shooting heads and 4D Compact Body + Tip systems. The longer 13'9" to 15'9" models are stronger tools for original 4D and 3D+ shooting heads, bigger rivers and heavier line systems.

Is LPX Chrome suitable for early-season salmon fishing?

Yes. Especially the 14'9" #10/11 and 15'9" #10/11 models are designed for bigger rivers, cold water, large flies and heavy sinking lines. The 15'9" model is the strongest tool in the range and is not intended as a beginner rod.

Does LPX Chrome 4-PC come with a rod tube?

Yes. The rod is supplied with a recycled polyester rod bag and a strong polypropylene tube with recycled polyester fabric cover.
