SAF PLASTI-X X-RAY 20 cm – Arctic Blue UV is a hand-poured and laminated soft lure that we make piece by piece here in-house. This is not just another generic “realistic” lure built only around a printed pattern. This lure stands on something that is often missing on today’s market – a transparent body, a cold natural blue tone, UV activity and a slim tailless profile that looks lively, clean and believable in the water.

Today’s market is full of lures with realistic prints and complicated patterns, but that often removes one essential thing – transparency and the way light works inside the material. With Arctic Blue UV, we went the opposite way. The transparent laminated body lets the blue tone, glitter and light work in a more natural, vivid and readable way. In the water, the lure does not look flat or lifeless, but keeps its depth, energy and a very natural overall expression.

We also add a UV activator into the material, so this is not just an ordinary blue colour. Arctic Blue UV is built for situations where you want to offer fish a natural silhouette, while also getting a bit more visibility and readability out of the lure. That is exactly why it makes excellent sense in poorer light, at dusk, in greater depth, in more coloured water, or whenever a purely “safe” colour starts to disappear.

The X-RAY 20 cm model is designed mainly for fish that like to take a longer, slimmer baitfish profile. It makes the most sense for cod, coalfish, pollack and other saltwater predators, but it also performs very well in freshwater when targeting pike, catfish and larger predators in general. This is exactly where the slim profile, transparent body and UV activity come together in a combination that does not feel overly aggressive, yet can still convince fish extremely well.

SAF PLASTI-X also has very strong use in saltwater fishing. And this is exactly where the X-RAY series makes outstanding sense within the SAF concept. Based on our own experience and customer feedback, these lures perform extremely well in Norway, where the strength of the transparent body, UV activity and the natural slim profile really stands out compared to standard mass-produced soft baits. X-RAY is not just a bottom lure either. It also makes excellent sense for active retrieves in the water column, pelagic situations, vertical jigging and classic boat casting. Many anglers first bought the finished lures from us, took them north into real fishing conditions, and only later came back for soft bait molds and lure making equipment, because they wanted to keep bringing the functional SAF PLASTI-X concept back on the boat again and again.

And now the most important part: eyes make the lure. That is exactly why we do not use cheap anonymous eyes without character on SAF PLASTI-X. We fit them with high-quality Sybai 3D eyes, made in the Czech Republic, with a noticeably more robust resin layer than common cheap alternatives. The result is not just better looks, but a stronger, cleaner and more convincing overall expression.

The way the eye is set also makes a big difference. We glue the eyes with gel super glue, not with thin liquid glue that tends to run, create a messy bond or leave an ugly air gap under the eye. The gel seats the eye properly, fills the space and helps create a clean, full and visually strong detail. And in the end, that is far more visible on a lure than many people realize.

SAF PLASTI-X is not something created behind a desk. These handmade soft lures are made from materials we know, use and sell ourselves. This is not an anonymous mass-produced bait, but our own product built on experience, real production and on what we genuinely want to fish with ourselves, without compromise.

It also makes perfect sense to combine it with our SAF jig heads, because the combination of a quality head and a properly built lure creates a functional whole.
