Westin Flashin' Anchovy 10cm 40g – Mighty Mack
Code: S124-1402-176Product detailed description
Westin Flashin' Anchovy 10 cm / 40 g – Mighty Mack is a compact saltwater jig / pilker built around the profile of a small baitfish. Its flat sides, strong flash and lively movement on the drop make it suitable for shore jigging, light vertical jigging and slow jigging, especially when you need a smaller, more agile and easier-to-control lure instead of a heavy deep-water pilker.
The Mighty Mack colour makes strong practical sense as a small mackerel imitation. In saltwater fishing, there are situations where shoals of mackerel or similar silver baitfish move into a certain area in a specific size class. Predators often switch onto that food source very quickly. When that happens, a lure with a similar size, silhouette and flash can be more effective than a much larger piece of metal. This is exactly where Flashin' Anchovy works in a match-the-hatch role – offering a lure that looks close to the baitfish predators are already hunting.
In Norway, this 10 cm / 40 g version is a good choice for cod, saithe, pollack and mackerel, especially in fjords, along the coast, in shallow to medium depths or when fish are actively feeding higher in the water column. It is not meant for situations where the main goal is to punch through extreme depth and heavy current as fast as possible. It is a precise, fast and agile micro jig for moments when fish are reacting to smaller prey.
The Mighty Mack pattern combines a darker back, bright sides and a strong flash effect. During the retrieve or on the drop, the lure behaves like a small fleeing silver baitfish, showing its sides and sending short flashes through the water. That matters when predators are choosing prey by size, movement and silhouette rather than simply reacting to a large lure falling through the water.
Flashin' Anchovy also has a clear use outside Norway. In warmer saltwater destinations, similar small metal jigs are used for active predators such as amberjack, snapper, grouper, bonito, barracuda and mackerel. In the right coastal conditions, a compact mackerel-style baitfish pattern can also make sense for sea trout when they are feeding on smaller silver prey.
The lure can be rigged according to your fishing style. A treble hook is a simple and traditional option, while a single assist hook or a light double assist setup is often a cleaner solution for saltwater jigging. An assist hook creates less drag, suits vertical presentations well and helps preserve the natural action of a small 40 g jig.
