Product detailed description

Samurai Black by Eye Candy Pigments is a pearlescent mica powder for hot plastisol, made for soft bait making. It adds depth and a natural “alive” finish — a deep black with a subtle silver shimmer that shifts nicely as the lure moves in the light.

Most important rule: always add the pigment to hot, clear plastisol (not cold). It shines best in clear or only lightly tinted mixes, where the pearlescent effect and depth can really show.

Recommended steps for soft bait making:

  1. Heat plastisol until it turns clear (work in the “hot window” when it flows clean and smooth).
  2. Add a small amount of Samurai Black to hot clear plastisol and mix thoroughly.
  3. Adjust intensity in small steps — with pearlescents, it’s better to add twice than to overdo it once.
  4. Pour into the mold, or layer (belly / back) for a more natural contrast.

Tips from practice: Samurai Black is a great base for a darker back or a “smoky” layer — it creates depth even with a simple recipe. For a more “alive” look, let the mica do its job in a clear layer first, then fine-tune the shade with a small drop of liquid plastisol color. Layering contrast often looks more natural than a fully solid black.

Tech quick view: particle size 10–60 μm. Manufacturer heat threshold 392–572 °F (approx. 200–300 °C). Ingredients (per manufacturer): mica, titanium dioxide, iron oxide.
