Beetle Blue by Eye Candy Pigments is a pearlescent mica powder made for soft bait making with plastisol. In finished baits it delivers a dark, “beetle” shimmer – blue shine with subtle golden highlights that shift with the light angle. It’s the kind of effect that makes even a simple colour look alive in the water.

Most important rule: add the pigment to hot clear plastisol (not cold). It performs best in clear or smoke-style mixes where depth and pearlescent flash can really show.

Recommended workflow for soft bait making:

1. Heat plastisol until it turns fully clear (and keep it in the working “hot window”).
2. Add a small amount of Beetle Blue to hot clear plastisol and mix thoroughly.
3. Adjust strength in small steps – with pearls it’s better to build up than to overdo it.
4. Pour into the mold, or layer (belly / back) for a more natural finish.

On-the-water tip: Beetle Blue is perfect when you want a darker, high-contrast bait without making it look flat. It shines in smoke recipes and on back layers – a clean metallic flash that shows on movement but doesn’t look loud. For a fuller, more readable effect, keep the pearl in a clear layer and back it with a thin milky or lightly tinted layer.

Quick tech: pearlescent mica pigment in powder form. In plastisol it boosts depth and shimmer without changing the mix consistency (at typical dosing).
