Westin Sandy Andy Jig 17 cm / 62 g in RoboCod is a saltwater sandeel-style soft lure for active spinning, jigging and controlled sink-and-retrieve fishing. This 62 g version is a practical mid-weight choice for Norway fishing, working shorelines, kelp edges, underwater slopes and medium-depth areas for cod, pollack, coalfish and, in the right situation, halibut. The RoboCod colour imitates a smaller coalfish / saithe, a natural prey fish for larger North Atlantic predators.

Detailed information

Product detailed description

Westin Sandy Andy Jig 17 cm / 62 g – RoboCod is a saltwater soft lure built around a realistic sandeel-style profile. Its slim body, natural shape and complete jig-head setup make it suitable for active saltwater spinning, jigging and sink-and-retrieve presentations. This size sits in a very practical middle range within the Sandy Andy family – it is not a tiny shore lure, but it is also not a heavy deep-water model made only for serious depth.

With this version, it is important to understand the weight marking shown on the blister. Westin lists HEAD 44 g and TOTAL 62 g. The value 44 g refers to the weight of the jig head itself, while 62 g is the total weight of the fully rigged lure including the soft body. That is why we use the total weight 62 g in the product name – the customer is buying a complete ready-to-fish lure, not only the jig head.

The combination of 62 g and 17 cm gives this Sandy Andy excellent practical value for Norway fishing. It works well for casting along shorelines, kelp edges, underwater slopes, shallower offshore humps and places where you need to cast the lure out, keep it under control and fish it actively in the right layer of water. In this role, Sandy Andy works as a refined saltwater softbait – a lure that imitates a slim baitfish while still handling more current and depth than lighter spinning soft lures.

The RoboCod colour has a very strong logic for Norwegian and North Atlantic fishing, because it can be practically understood as an imitation of a smaller coalfish / saithe. Small coalfish are an important food source for larger saltwater predators in the North Atlantic and can trigger bigger cod, pollack and halibut. In this 62 g size, this is not primarily a heavy dedicated halibut lure for deep water, but the colour logic clearly follows a natural prey pattern that predators in Norwegian waters recognise well.

Visually, RoboCod is built around a darker back, lighter sides and a more defined head pattern. This helps the lure remain readable in changing light, slightly coloured water or when fishing a bit deeper. It is not a completely subtle natural colour, but it is also not an overly bright trigger pattern. For Norway fishing, it makes sense as a versatile option when you want to combine a realistic baitfish profile, the silhouette of a smaller coalfish and enough contrast for active fishing.

Westin Sandy Andy Jig is supplied as a complete lure with a pre-shaped jig head and soft body. Westin highlights active 3D eyes, hand-painted details, realistic appearance, optimised firmness and movement, and a sharp saltwater hook. The package layout is also practical: 1 jig head + 2 bodies. If the soft body gets damaged, you do not need to replace the whole lure straight away – you can continue fishing with the spare body.

Sandy Andy can be worked in several ways. It performs on a steady retrieve, interrupted retrieve, jigging and controlled drops. In this weight, it is especially interesting when you do not want to fish passively on the bottom only, but actively search through the water column. For pollack and cod, it works well around edges, rocks and kelp. For halibut, this size is more of a situational choice in shallower or medium-depth water, where the natural profile of a smaller fish and controlled presentation near the bottom or structure can make sense.

The 17 cm / 62 g model should be seen as a medium-heavy saltwater spinning lure within the Sandy Andy range. Compared with lighter versions, it holds contact better in current, reaches the working depth faster and can handle stronger tackle. Compared with heavier 82 g+ models, it still keeps a more active spinning character. That makes it a very useful compromise for anglers looking for one practical Sandy Andy size for Norway fishing without immediately moving into a heavy pilker-style approach.

The primary purpose of this lure is saltwater fishing. In Norway, it makes the most sense for cod, pollack, coalfish and, depending on the situation, also halibut. The RoboCod colour adds extra practical value because it works with the visual idea of a smaller coalfish / saithe – a prey fish that larger predators in North Atlantic waters naturally recognise as food. In warmer saltwater destinations, a similar slim baitfish profile can also work for other predators feeding on narrow baitfish or sandeel-shaped prey. For freshwater fishing, we would be more careful with this particular weight – 62 g is already more of a saltwater working weight than a standard soft lure for regular freshwater casting.

Westin Sandy Andy Jig 17 cm / 62 g – RoboCod is a strong choice for anglers looking for a realistic saltwater soft lure with a clear purpose. It is not a universal softbait for everything, but a well-thought-out sandeel-style imitation for active sea fishing, where the right weight, lure control, natural profile and readable colour all matter. With RoboCod, the key strength is its connection to small coalfish / saithe as an important prey item for North Atlantic predators.
