Product detailed description

Guideline Elevation Nymph Fly Rod is a dedicated single-hand fly rod series for modern nymphing, euro nymphing and precise river fishing with thin leaders. It is built for anglers who need sensitivity, contact, drift control and tippet protection, but still want enough backbone to handle heavier nymphs and larger fish when the situation demands it.

The Elevation Nymph range is light, crisp and well balanced. The action is based around a Full / Mid Flex profile with Medium Fast / Fast Recovery, giving the rod a sensitive tip section for strike detection and leader protection, while the lower blank still carries enough power for casting, line control and fish fighting. This makes the rod useful not only for pure euro nymphing, but also for situations where you may need to cast a light fly line or switch to a more traditional presentation.

Guideline designed the rod details specifically around nymphing. The down-locking reel seat helps improve balance with light reels, the custom cork grip keeps the hand close to the blank, and the first stripper guide is placed close to the grip to reduce line sag during line management. A snake guide near the tip helps reduce tangles and line wrapping around the blank when fishing thin nymph lines or long leaders.

The blank has a matte surface with a fine spiral pattern created during production. This is not only a visual detail. The textured matte surface helps reduce the tendency of thin nymph lines or monofilament leaders to stick to a wet blank, which can otherwise restrict casting distance and line control. Elevation Nymph also follows the more sustainable concept of the Elevation series, including reduced-impact components, recycled REPREVE™ polyester in the rod bag and tube cover, and recyclable polypropylene rod tubes.

Choosing the right model depends mainly on water size, tippet strength, fly weight and how delicate or powerful the setup should be. The 10'2" #2 is the lightest and most sensitive option for fine leaders and delicate nymphing. The 10'6" #3 is the most versatile model in the range, giving extra reach and better drift control while still remaining light. The 10'2" #4 is the stronger model for larger rivers, heavier flies and bigger fish, while still being short and responsive enough to work as a light all-round trout rod.

Size Length Line weight Pieces Rec. head weight Weight Tube length Best use
10'2" #2 10'2" / 310 cm #2 4 5–7 g / 77–100 grains 74 g 88 cm delicate euro nymphing, thin tippets, small flies
10'6" #3 10'6" / 320 cm #3 4 7–9 g / 110–140 grains 78 g 91 cm most versatile nymph model, longer drift control
10'2" #4 10'2" / 310 cm #4 4 9–11 g / 140–170 grains 82 g 88 cm larger rivers, heavier nymphs, stronger fish

The 10'2" #2 is the most delicate rod in the series. It is made for anglers who fish fine leaders, light nymphs and subtle presentations where sensitivity and tippet protection are more important than raw power. Even so, the blank still has enough reserve to control heavier nymphs and handle better fish when needed.

The 10'6" #3 is the most versatile model. The extra length improves reach, drift control and contact with the flies, especially on medium rivers or when fishing slightly longer drifts. It is still light enough for smaller streams and thin leaders, but it adds more strength than the #2 model and can also cast a regular fly line when fish start feeding on the surface.

The 10'2" #4 is the power model of the range. It is the right choice for larger streams and rivers, heavier nymphs, stronger current and larger trout or grayling. Because it is shorter than the #3 model, it also feels responsive enough to work as a light all-round trout rod when you want one rod for both nymphing and more traditional fly fishing.

Elevation Nymph rods are supplied as 4-piece rods with a rod bag and rod tube. The series is a strong choice for anglers who want a modern nymphing rod with excellent value, low weight, sensitive contact and a more responsible material concept.

Frequently Asked Questions – Guideline Elevation Nymph Fly Rod

Which Guideline Elevation Nymph size should I choose?

Choose 10'2" #2 for delicate euro nymphing, thin tippets and smaller flies. Choose 10'6" #3 if you want the most versatile model with better reach and drift control. Choose 10'2" #4 for larger rivers, heavier nymphs, stronger current and bigger fish.

Is Elevation Nymph only for euro nymphing?

It is designed mainly for modern nymphing and euro nymphing, but selected models can also cast a regular fly line. The 10'6" #3 and 10'2" #4 are especially useful when you want to switch from nymphing to dry fly or light all-round trout fishing.

Why does the rod use a down-locking reel seat?

The down-locking reel seat helps improve balance with light reels. This is important on long nymphing rods, because good balance reduces fatigue and improves contact with the leader during long sessions.

Is the tip suitable for thin tippets?

Yes. The sensitive tip section is designed to protect thin tippets and cushion sudden shakes from aggressive fish. This is especially useful when fishing small nymphs, fine leaders and delicate presentations.

What is the difference between #2, #3 and #4 in practice?

The #2 is the finest and most delicate model, the #3 is the best all-round nymphing size, and the #4 gives more power for heavier flies, larger rivers and stronger fish. The right choice depends on fly size, river size, current strength and how fine your leader setup needs to be.

Does Elevation Nymph come with a rod tube?

Yes. Elevation Nymph is supplied with a rod bag and rod tube. Guideline uses recycled REPREVE™ polyester for the rod bag and tube cover and recyclable polypropylene for the rod tube.
