Product detailed description

Guideline NT11 Fast Full Flex Single Hand is a premium 10ft single-hand fly rod built for anglers who want the feeling and control of a deeper loading blank, but without losing speed, recovery and modern NT11 performance. This is not a normal trout rod stretched to 10ft. It is a specialised single-hand migratory rod for salmon, sea trout, steelhead, big trout, low-water salmon fishing, smaller rivers, lake fishing and advanced single-hand spey techniques.

The character of the rod is Fast Full Flex. The blank loads deeper than a typical fast-action single-hand rod, which makes it easier to feel the line, anchor the cast and generate power without aggressive timing. At the same time, the recovery is fast and controlled, so the rod does not feel slow, heavy or collapsed. It gives the angler a smooth full-flex feeling with modern line speed and strong lower-blank reserve.

This action is especially valuable when you fish with water-anchored casts, Single Hand Scandi lines, WF migratory lines, compact shooting heads, ULS-style multi-tip systems or heavier setups with sinking tips. The rod loads easily, carries the line with confidence and helps maintain control when you have limited back-cast space, difficult banks, wind, current seams or fish holding close to structure.

The blank is built around T1100 CAP technology, using high-strength T1100 graphite, low-resin carbon construction and Guideline’s Complex Axial Pattern reinforcement. In practice, this gives the rod a very high strength-to-weight ratio, clean recovery, stability under load and excellent power transfer through the full blank. For migratory fishing, that means better control of heavier lines, better lifting power and more confidence when a serious fish takes.

The 10' #7 is the more versatile model in the range. It is a strong all-round single-hand migratory rod for sea trout, steelhead, larger trout and salmon in smaller rivers or low-water conditions. It works very well with WF lines such as Guideline Bullet+ and Single Hand Scandi-style setups, but it also makes sense with ULS+ Multi Tip systems when you want more control over depth, swing speed and presentation.

The 10' #8 is the more powerful version. It is the logical choice when you want extra backbone for larger fish, stronger current, bigger flies, heavier lines and more demanding fishing. It suits salmon, large sea trout, steelhead, big trout and lake or river situations where a #7 can work, but a stronger rod gives more control, pressure and safety.

Size Length Recommended head weight Character Best use
10' #7 10' / 305 cm 16-19 g / 247-293 gr single-hand migratory all-rounder sea trout, steelhead, salmon, big trout, low water
10' #8 10' / 305 cm 18-21 g / 278-325 gr stronger migratory power larger fish, heavier lines, bigger flies, stronger current

The 10' #7 is the most balanced choice if you want one high-end single-hand migratory rod for mixed fishing. It covers sea trout, steelhead, larger trout and smaller-river salmon very well, especially when the water is lower, the flies are not extreme and you still want a rod that feels light and enjoyable through a long session.

The 10' #8 is the stronger and more specialised option. Choose it when you expect bigger fish, heavier tips, larger flies, stronger current or situations where you need to put more pressure on the fish. It still has the smooth Fast Full Flex feel, but the lower blank gives more authority and control.

Compared with a classic 9ft single-hand rod, the 10ft length gives you more reach, easier mending, better line control and more height when fishing sinking tips, swinging flies or working across current seams. Compared with a switch rod, it stays more compact, lighter in hand and easier to use when the water, bank space or fishing style does not require a two-hand setup.

NT11 Fast Full Flex Single Hand is supplied as a 4-piece rod and belongs to Guideline’s highest NT11 technology platform. It is designed for serious anglers who want a premium single-hand rod for migratory species and technical line systems, but who still value feel, loading depth, control and a smooth casting rhythm.

Frequently Asked Questions – Guideline NT11 Fast Full Flex Single Hand

Who is Guideline NT11 Fast Full Flex Single Hand made for?

It is made for anglers targeting sea trout, steelhead, salmon, big trout and other migratory fish with a single-hand rod. It is especially useful when you want deeper loading, easy water-anchored casts, controlled line handling and real power in a 10ft rod.

Which size should I choose?

Choose 10' #7 if you want the more versatile all-round model for sea trout, steelhead, smaller-river salmon, low-water fishing and larger trout. Choose 10' #8 if you need more power for larger fish, heavier lines, bigger flies, sinking tips and stronger current.

What does Fast Full Flex mean?

Fast Full Flex means the rod loads deeper through the blank, but still recovers quickly. You get a smooth, readable full-flex feeling during casting, combined with modern line speed, stability and power when the rod is loaded harder.

Is this rod suitable for single-hand spey casting?

Yes. This is one of the main reasons for the rod. The deeper loading blank and fast recovery make water-anchored casts, single-hand spey casts, roll casts and compact line systems easier and more controlled.

Which lines fit this rod best?

The #7 model is well suited to WF migratory lines such as Bullet+, Single Hand Scandi-style lines and ULS+ Multi Tip setups. The #8 model works well with heavier WF lines, 3D+ Compact shooting heads and stronger setups when you need more weight and turnover.

Is this a trout rod or a salmon rod?

It sits between both worlds. It can be used for big trout and lake fishing, but its main role is single-hand migratory fishing for sea trout, steelhead and salmon in smaller rivers, lower water or places where a full two-hand rod is not necessary.

How is it different from NT11 Lake & Anadrome?

NT11 Lake & Anadrome is a broader 10ft range for lake fishing, boat fishing and anadromous use. NT11 Fast Full Flex Single Hand is more focused on the unique Fast Full Flex action, deeper loading feel and single-hand migratory / spey-style casting performance.
