Product detailed description

Guideline NT11 Trout Series is a premium single-hand trout rod range for anglers who want an exceptionally light, sensitive and refined fly rod without losing real fishing power. This is not a generic trout rod with a luxury label. NT11 Trout is built for dry fly fishing, nymphing, delicate presentation, accurate loop control, fine tippet protection and demanding trout fishing where the blank has to feel alive in the hand.

The character of the rod is Mid Flex with Fast Recovery. At short and medium distance, the rod feels light, crisp and highly controlled, with enough sensitivity in the tip section for delicate presentations and fine leaders. When loaded more deeply, the lower part of the blank starts to engage and adds stability, power and a clean kick through the cast. The result is a rod that can be subtle and precise, but still has real reserve when the conditions, distance or fish demand more.

The blank is based on T1100 CAP technology, combining advanced aerospace-grade graphite, low-resin carbon construction and Guideline’s Complex Axial Pattern reinforcement. In practice, this means very low blank weight, high break strength, excellent recovery speed and clean tracking through the cast. For trout fishing, that translates into better loop control, improved accuracy, less hand fatigue and a more direct connection between the angler, the fly line, the leader and the fish.

NT11 Trout is special because it combines two qualities that are often difficult to bring together in one rod – delicate presentation and high-performance recovery. The lighter models protect fine tippets and make dry-fly fishing feel natural and controlled. The stronger models carry more authority for bigger flies, wind, larger trout, lake fishing and situations where a softer technical rod would start to run out of power.

The 9' #4 is the refined dry-fly and technical trout model. It is smooth, accurate and very pleasant with fine leaders, smaller flies and fish that require careful presentation. The 9' #5 is the main all-round trout rod in the range — the safest choice for most river fishing, dry flies, nymphs, wet flies and smaller streamers. The 9' #6 adds more backbone for wind, larger flies, stronger trout, light streamer work and stillwater fishing.

The longer 9'6" #3 and 9'9" #4 models extend the NT11 Trout concept into more technical line control. They give you more reach, better mending, longer drifts, improved leader contact and more control when wading deeper, fishing larger rivers or working from awkward casting positions. The 9'6" #3 stays delicate and precise, while the 9'9" #4 adds extra reach without turning into a heavy rod.

Size Length Recommended head weight Rod weight Character Best use
9' #4 9' / 274 cm 10-12 g / 155-185 gr 69 g refined dry fly dry flies, fine tippets, technical trout fishing
9' #5 9' / 274 cm 12-14 g / 185-216 gr 71 g main all-rounder dry flies, nymphs, wet flies, smaller streamers
9' #6 9' / 274 cm 14-16 g / 216-245 gr 79 g power trout wind, larger flies, stronger trout, stillwater
9'6" #3 9'6" / 290 cm 8-10 g / 123-155 gr 69 g long delicate control long drifts, dry flies, light nymphs, mending
9'9" #4 9'9" / 297 cm 10-12 g / 155-185 gr 72 g reach and drift control larger rivers, longer drifts, stillwater, fine control

The 9' #4 is the most refined classic length in the current SAF variant setup. It makes sense for technical dry fly fishing, smaller flies, fine leaders and trout or grayling situations where presentation matters more than raw power. The 9' #5 is the strongest all-round choice for most anglers — light enough for dry flies and nymphs, but with enough authority for a broader range of flies and water types.

The 9' #6 is the model to choose when the conditions become more demanding. It suits stronger trout, larger flies, smaller streamers, wind and stillwater fishing. The rod remains light and responsive, but the blank has more authority and a stronger lower section than the lighter models.

The longer 9'6" #3 is a very interesting technical trout model. It keeps the delicacy of a light line class, but adds reach, drift length and line control. It is useful for dry flies, light nymphs, careful mending and situations where a standard 9ft rod does not give enough contact with the leader. The 9'9" #4 adds the same idea in a slightly stronger and more versatile line class for larger rivers, stillwaters and deeper wading.

The component level matches the premium NT11 positioning. The rods feature a matte satin carbon grey blank, FLOR-grade cork handle, lightweight titanium stripping guides, high-quality single-leg guides with titanium coating, a hard-anodized custom reel seat, four-piece construction, rod bag and protective tube. NT11 Trout is a high-end trout rod for anglers who want a clear feeling from the blank, precise presentation and enough reserve when the fishing becomes more serious.

Frequently Asked Questions – Guideline NT11 Trout Series

Who is Guideline NT11 Trout Series made for?

It is made for trout and grayling anglers who want a premium single-hand fly rod with very low blank weight, fast recovery, delicate presentation and reliable control of fine tippets.

Which NT11 Trout model should I choose for regular trout fishing?

The safest all-round choice is 9' #5. Choose 9' #4 if you prefer finer dry fly and technical trout fishing. Choose 9' #6 if you need more power for wind, larger flies, lake fishing or stronger trout.

What is the 9'6" #3 model best for?

The 9'6" #3 is a longer delicate model for dry flies, light nymphs, longer drifts, controlled mending and better leader contact. It is a good choice when you want extra reach without moving into a heavier line class.

When does the 9'9" #4 model make sense?

The 9'9" #4 makes sense on larger rivers, when wading deeper, fishing from difficult positions or when you want better drift control and mending while still keeping a refined trout line class.

Is the 9' #6 still a trout rod?

Yes. It is the stronger trout model in the range. It is useful for larger flies, wind, stillwater fishing, smaller streamers and stronger trout where a #4 or #5 may not offer enough reserve.

What makes T1100 CAP technology important?

T1100 CAP technology helps create a very light blank with high strength, fast recovery and clean tracking. For the angler, this means better line control, more accuracy, less fatigue and a more direct feeling during casting and fish fighting.

How is NT11 Trout different from LPX Tactical?

LPX Tactical is a broader modern technical trout range with more model spread and crossover use. NT11 Trout is the more refined premium trout series, focused on ultra-low weight, high recovery speed, smooth progressive loading and a very direct high-end blank feel.
