Detailed information

Product detailed description

The Your Mold F165 aluminum mold produces inline fishing leads. Its 3 separate cavities provide nominal weights of 60 / 80 / 90 g. You can fill an individual cavity without filling all the others.

F165 uses a pear body. Select the load to suit current, bottom conditions, rig control and the capacity of your rod and complete tackle. Shape and weight alone do not guarantee a casting distance or suitability for a fixed depth. Compare F164 and F13 for other weights or constructions.

Use the included tapered metal guide pin for the 3/5 mm profile, 1 piece during casting. It forms the through passage and is withdrawn after the metal solidifies. Fit a matching tapered 3/5 mm rubber insert into the cooled, deburred casting. This is a tapered profile, not any straight tube with a 3 or 5 mm diameter. Never put the rubber insert into molten metal.

Additional inserts and finishing accessories are selected separately for the specific construction. Check correct assembly and secure closure of all mold parts before filling.

Weight and insert overview

Nominal casting weight Cavities Insert during casting Finishing
60 g 1 tapered 3/5 mm metal guide pin Remove pin; fit liner after cooling
80 g 1 tapered 3/5 mm metal guide pin Remove pin; fit liner after cooling
90 g 1 tapered 3/5 mm metal guide pin Remove pin; fit liner after cooling

From the F165 mold to a finished lead

  1. Prepare a clean, completely dry mold, inserts and tools. Choose the required cavity.
  2. Seat the specified insert (tapered 3/5 mm metal guide pin) and check full, secure closure without force.
  3. Cast according to the instructions for the mold, metal and melting equipment. Keep plastic and rubber parts away from molten metal.
  4. After solidification, remove the casting safely. Withdraw the metal guide pin and let the lead cool.
  5. Trim the sprue and deburr sharp edges. Fit the matching insert into the cool casting and finish its ends.
  6. Weigh and inspect the first casting, then test the complete rig before continuing with a larger batch.

Nominal weights refer to one casting, not the total output of the mold. The metal used and finishing affect actual weight, so weigh the first casting from each cavity you use. Keep within the casting capacity of your rod and complete tackle.

A through hole alone does not guarantee a free-running or drop-off rig. Test all components in the combination you intend to use. Finish the cleaned lead with a rubber lead coating according to its instructions, keeping the eye or passage functional.

Casting safety

  • Never pour molten metal into a damp mold. Inserts and tools must also be completely dry.
  • Wear safety glasses and suitable gloves; use a stable, heat-resistant work area with effective ventilation.
  • Follow the instructions for the mold, metal and melting equipment. A mold temperature limit is not a recommended pouring temperature.
  • Do not eat, drink or smoke while working with lead. Keep casting equipment separate from kitchen utensils and wash your hands afterwards.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

How many leads does one mold produce?

3 separate castings at nominal weights of 60 / 80 / 90 g if all cavities are filled. You can use individual cavities.

Which insert is required?

Use the specified tapered 3/5 mm metal guide pin. Remove the metal pin after casting and fit the liner only after the lead has cooled.

Are accessories included?

The manufacturer lists one included tapered metal guide pin. Rubber liners and other accessories are sold separately.

When should I choose another mold?

Compare F164 and F13 for different weights or constructions. Check each mold’s own insert requirements.
