Product detailed description

The Your Mold BH19 wire keeper is a preformed insert for casting jig heads with an integrated soft-lure holder. The terms wire keeper and bait holder refer to the same component. It is not an eye or loop for creating a line-attachment point.

Each keeper is made from stainless spring steel, measures 19 mm in length and uses 0.8 mm wire. Its bent ends anchor it in the casting, while the exposed section helps reduce the soft lure sliding back from the jig head.

The keeper is positioned in the corresponding mold groove before casting. The manufacturer lists it as a suitable accessory for the Your Mold F155 mold. When using another mold, always check the required keeper length, wire diameter and groove geometry.

Both variants contain the same 19 × 0.8 mm keeper. The 20-piece pack is practical for test castings or a small batch, while the 100-piece pack offers a lower cost per keeper for regular production.

How to position the wire keeper in the mold

  1. Use a clean, completely dry mold with a groove designed for a 19 mm keeper made from 0.8 mm wire.
  2. Position the keeper in the direction specified by the mold and accurately seat the correct jig hook.
  3. Before pouring, check that the mold closes fully, the keeper cannot shift and no inserted component extends into the parting line.
  4. Once the casting has solidified and cooled to a safe handling temperature, check that the keeper is firmly anchored, correctly oriented and undamaged.

Lead-casting equipment and process overview

Casting safety

  • Insert the keeper only into a clean, completely dry mold. Moisture must never come into contact with molten metal.
  • Wear safety glasses and suitable protective gloves, and work on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
  • Provide effective ventilation and follow the instructions for the casting metal, mold and melting equipment.
  • Do not handle the casting or the exposed wire until both have cooled to a safe temperature.

Frequently asked questions about the BH19 wire keeper

What does the wire keeper do?

Once embedded in the jig head, it helps reduce the soft lure sliding back from the head during use.

Is this the same as an eye or loop insert?

No. An eye or loop forms an attachment point for the fishing line or terminal hardware. The BH19 is a bait holder designed to help retain the body of a soft lure.

Does the keeper fit the F155 mold?

Yes. The manufacturer lists the 19 mm bait holder as a matching accessory for the Your Mold F155. For any other mold, check its documentation and the shape of the keeper groove.

What is the difference between the 20- and 100-piece packs?

The dimensions, material and shape are identical. Only the number of keepers in the pack and the unit price differ.

Can I add the keeper to a finished jig head?

No. The BH19 is anchored while the jig head is being cast, so it must be positioned correctly before the mold cavity is filled with metal.
