Your Mold F232 Ned Jig Head Mold 8–18 g
Code: YM/0232Related products
Product detailed description
The Your Mold F232 Ned Jig aluminum mold produces wide, flat-faced jig heads with an embedded soft-bait wire keeper for Ned rigs and other bottom-oriented lure presentations. Five cavities give nominal lead weights of 8 / 10 / 12 / 15 / 18 g. The manufacturer specifies a head diameter of approximately 12 mm.
In a Ned rig, the head works with a short soft bait during slow retrieves, small movements and pauses. F232 provides heavier loads than the lightest versions of this technique, useful when a lighter head does not give enough control. Choose weight according to depth, current, line and the desired fall, rather than using 18 g automatically.
The wide face provides a supporting surface. An upright bait presentation is not guaranteed by the mold alone: lure buoyancy and length, hook weight, bottom slope and line tension all influence the result. A sinking soft bait may behave differently from a buoyant one; test the assembled lure in water.
The manufacturer confirms VMC 5150 sizes 1 / 1/0 / 2/0 / 3/0 / 4/0 in all five cavities. You can select casting weight independently of the specified hook size. Matching BN and RD versions are listed among related products, including VMC 5150 BN 1/0 and VMC 5150 BN 3/0. Size 1 differs from 1/0, and a different hook series with the same size number is not automatically compatible.
Position the hook together with a Your Mold BH19 19 mm wire keeper before casting. Made from 0.8 mm stainless spring-steel wire, BH19 is compatible with F232. Once embedded, it helps reduce the soft bait sliding back from the head during retrieves and repeated casts. The keeper retains the lure body; attach the leader to the jig hook’s eye.
Both the hook and keeper remain anchored in the casting. Choose shank length and hook-point position to suit the soft bait while keeping its body straight. Thread the bait onto the hook and engage it with the keeper’s exposed working section. The wire retains the bait against the head; buoyancy and an upright bottom presentation still depend on the complete setup.
This listing is for the mold alone. VMC 5150 hooks, BH19 keepers, coatings and soft baits are ordered separately. The keeper is available in packs of 20 or 100 pieces with identical dimensions. Compare other shapes in our jig-head mold range.

From the F232 mold to a finished casting
- Prepare a clean, completely dry mold, VMC 5150 hooks, BH19 19 × 0.8 mm keepers and casting tools. Select the weight and hook size.
- Seat the hook and BH19 keeper in their respective positions at the chosen cavity. Check the hook eye and the direction of the keeper’s exposed section. Make sure the mold closes fully without force or movement of the inserts.
- Secure the mold and cast according to the mold, metal and melting-equipment instructions.
- After solidification, remove the casting safely, let it cool and carefully trim the sprue without damaging the hook or keeper.
- Check that both the hook and keeper are firmly anchored and the eye remains clear. Weigh the first head, fit your chosen soft bait and test the complete setup in water.
The stated weights are approximate lead values. Alloy, hook and keeper choice, and finishing may change final weight. You need not fill every cavity at once; verify the hook-and-cavity combination before making a batch.
A suitable powder coating can be applied according to its instructions. Keep the eye, point and working surfaces of the hook and keeper functional and free from coating buildup, and choose a heat treatment suitable for the complete assembly. Similar round, football and fish-head designs are alternatives, rather than identical Ned heads or proof of interchangeable inserts.
Casting safety
- Never pour molten metal into a damp mold. Lead, inserts and tools must also be completely dry.
- Wear safety glasses and suitable protective gloves; work on a stable, heat-resistant surface with effective ventilation.
- Follow the instructions for the mold, metal and melting equipment. The manufacturer’s approximate 500 °C mold limit is not a recommended pouring temperature.
- Do not eat, drink or smoke when working with lead. Keep casting tools separate from kitchen utensils and wash your hands afterwards.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Which weights does F232 produce?
Approximately 8, 10, 12, 15 and 18 g, with one cavity for each weight. The manufacturer specifies a face diameter of approximately 12 mm.
Does every listed hook size fit all weights?
Yes. The manufacturer specifically confirms VMC 5150 sizes 1, 1/0, 2/0, 3/0 and 4/0. This does not establish compatibility with other hook series.
Will a soft bait always stand upright?
Not automatically. Lure buoyancy and dimensions, hook size, bottom conditions and line tension also matter. Test the actual setup.
Which wire keeper fits the F232 mold?
The Your Mold BH19, 19 mm long and made from 0.8 mm stainless spring-steel wire. Position it with the VMC 5150 hook before casting; in the finished head it helps retain the soft bait.
Are hooks or wire keepers included?
This listing is for the mold alone. Order VMC 5150 hooks and BH19 keepers separately. BH19 is available in packs of 20 or 100 pieces; both contain the same keeper.
Can I substitute another 90° jig hook?
Not without verification. Eye dimensions and position, wire diameter, shank and bend matter as well as angle. Matching size numbers alone are insufficient.
