Detailed information

Product detailed description

Westin Flashin' Anchovy 13 cm / 80 g – Mighty Mack is the strongest version in the Flashin' Anchovy range of compact saltwater jigs. Compared to the 40 g and 60 g models, it offers more weight, longer casting distance, a faster drop, better contact in current and more control in wind or deeper water. It still keeps the character of a compact baitfish lure – this is not a heavy deep-water pilker, but a stronger metal jig for active saltwater fishing.

The 13 cm / 80 g size makes the most sense when lighter weights start to lose contact, when current pushes the lure out of the working zone or when you need to reach further and fish deeper. The 80g version is the strongest working option in this range: still compact and controllable, but with much more authority during casting, dropping and retrieving.

The Mighty Mack colour is built around the logic of a small mackerel or similar silver baitfish. In saltwater fishing, shoals of mackerel often move into a certain area in a specific size class, and predators can quickly focus on that exact food source. When that happens, a lure with a similar length, silhouette and flash can be more effective than a randomly chosen large pilker. Mighty Mack is therefore not just a colour option, but a practical mackerel-style match-the-hatch pattern.

In Norway, the Flashin' Anchovy 80 g is a strong choice for cod, saithe, pollack and mackerel, especially in fjords, around edges, current breaks, rocky areas and places where you need longer casting distance, better contact or a deeper presentation. Compared to the 60g version, it has more stability in current, reaches the working depth faster and gives better control during drift or windy conditions.

It also has clear use in warmer saltwater destinations. In shore, inshore and lighter coastal jigging, this type of lure can make sense for seabass, bonito, barracuda, bluefish, smaller jacks, snapper and other predators feeding on baitfish. The 80g version has enough weight for longer casts, deeper presentations and tougher conditions, but it should still not be treated as a heavy deep offshore jig or a lure for large tuna.

The key feature is the way the lure works on the drop. Thanks to its flat sides, Flashin' Anchovy does not simply fall like a dead piece of metal. It shows its sides, flutters and sends repeated flashes through the water. This combination of compact body, flash effect, fluttering movement and stable contact makes the 80g version a strong tool when fish react to speed, reflection and the silhouette of fleeing prey.

The 80g version is ideal for anglers who want the strongest Flashin' Anchovy in Mighty Mack. If you fish lighter from shore or in shallower water, the 40 g version makes more sense. If you want the most universal middle weight, choose 60 g. But when you need wind performance, current control, longer reach, a faster drop and stronger lure feedback, the 80 g model is the right working choice.

FAQ – Westin Flashin' Anchovy 13 cm / 80 g Mighty Mack

What is the 80g Westin Flashin' Anchovy best used for?

The 80g version is best for situations where you need longer casting distance, a faster drop, better contact in current, more reach or a deeper presentation. It works well for shore jigging, vertical fishing, slow jigging, fjords and active fish feeding in the water column or just above the bottom.

What is the difference between the 60 g and 80 g versions?

The 60 g version is the universal middle weight in the range. The 80 g version is the stronger working model for wind, current, longer distance and deeper presentations. It still remains a compact baitfish jig, but offers more stability and contact in tougher conditions.

Is the Westin Flashin' Anchovy 80 g a classic pilker?

Not in the traditional sense. Flashin' Anchovy is more of a compact saltwater jig with a baitfish profile, flat sides and a strong flash effect. Its strength is in its action on the drop, side flash and imitation of smaller prey, not only in dropping fast to the bottom.

Why does the Mighty Mack colour make sense?

Mighty Mack is a mackerel-style baitfish pattern for situations where predators are feeding on small mackerel or similar silver prey. It makes sense when size, silhouette, flash and a natural baitfish profile are more important than a random bright colour.

When should I choose the 40 g or 60 g version instead?

Choose the 40 g version for lighter shore jigging, shallower water and a more delicate presentation. The 60 g version is the best all-round option for normal conditions. The 80 g version makes sense when you need more reach, a faster drop, better contact in current or stronger control in wind.
