Product detailed description

The Your Mold A Cheburashka clip is a ready-shaped connecting part made from 0.6 mm stainless steel wire. It slides into a completed Cheburashka casting and connects the weight to the hook eye. It provides a repeatable clip shape for the specified passage and casting length, saving you from shaping each part from wire. Use it when assembling light articulated soft-bait rigs where you want to change the weight while retaining your chosen hook and lure.

The clearest application is the F161 round Cheburashka mold. Type A fits its 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 10 g cavities. The larger 12, 14 and 16 g F161 castings use type B. One mold therefore needs two clip types, even though all cavities are cast with the same thin BL1 strip. Keep the light castings separate from the larger ones while preparing a batch so that the wrong clip length does not reach the assembly stage.

Another documented application is the F184 light fish-head Cheburashka mold. The manufacturer recommends A for its three lightest weights and B for the remaining cavities. “Under 10 g always means A” is therefore not a rule you can apply across molds. Body length, passage geometry and the seating of the clip ends matter alongside weight. Do not automatically assign A to F183 fish-head castings or F174 olive castings merely because their weights are similar.

The articulated connection allows the hook to pivot relative to the weight. With light paddle-tail shads and twisters, choose a weight that lets you control the presentation; movement in straight-tail soft baits comes mainly from your rod work. Match the hook size to the lure and the hook eye to the clip. An eye that is too tight can restrict articulation, while an unsuitable connection may interfere with secure locking. With an offset hook, also check how the point sits in the soft bait.

The clip stays in the finished rig; the steel strip is a casting tool. The BL1 strip forms the passage and is removed after the metal solidifies. The finished clip and hook are fitted only after the casting is complete and cool. These parts do different jobs. When assembling the first weight, check that the clip slides in without force and remains securely seated while the hook moves.

Choose a 50-piece pack for small batches and topping up your tackle, or 500 pieces for repeated production of the same rigs. Base the quantity on your actual use of type A; a larger pack does not change its dimensions or compatibility. Store A separately from B and C and discard damaged parts. Wire diameter and lead weight do not, by themselves, specify the breaking strength of the complete fishing rig.

Type A clip compatibility and selection

Mold or component Use of type A Selection note
F161 · 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 8 / 10 g Yes Light part of the round range
F161 · 12 / 14 / 16 g Use B The same strip does not mean the same clip
F184 · three lightest weights Yes, per manufacturer Remaining cavities use B
F183 / F174 Do not assume A fits Check the individual cavity
Type A wire Stainless steel · 0.6 mm Ready-shaped connecting part
Pack size 50 or 500 pcs According to selected option

The table identifies the mold and the relevant cavities. When assembling a casting from another source, test one first rather than relying on its stated weight. The clip must pass through correctly, lock securely and leave enough room for the hook.

From type A clip to a finished rig

  1. Choose an F161 casting from the 2–10 g range or the appropriate lightest F184 weight. Check that its passage is clean and finished.
  2. Select the hook to suit the soft bait and check that its eye can be fitted to the clip and move freely.
  3. Assemble the hook and clip according to the connecting part’s shape. Insert type A into the cool casting without forcing it.
  4. Check that the clip is fully secured. The hook should pivot without releasing the clip as it moves.
  5. Rig the soft bait straight, check the exposed point or offset position and inspect the complete assembly before fishing.

Lead casting equipment and practical guidance

Types B and C appear among alternative products as different size options. They are not automatically interchangeable with A. Related products begin with molds with documented applications; the exact cavities remain identified in the text and table.

Rig inspection and handling lead

  • Handle the hook point carefully; keep it directed away from your hands and face when checking the connection.
  • Before fishing, check that the clip closes correctly, retains its shape and allows the hook to move. Replace bent or damaged parts.
  • Only adjust the clip using a method appropriate for the product. Forcing it open or repeatedly bending it can damage its locking action.
  • Do not eat, drink or smoke while handling lead weights, and wash your hands afterwards. Keep small parts away from children.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Does type A fit every F161 cavity?

No. It fits 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 10 g. Use B for 12, 14 and 16 g. Follow this split even though every cavity is cast using a BL1 strip.

Why does the light F184 also need type B?

Its fish-head profile has different proportions from the round F161. The manufacturer recommends A for the three lightest F184 weights and B for the rest. A weight below 10 g does not guarantee that A fits.

Is the clip cast into the lead?

Not in the Cheburashka system described here. A removable steel strip forms the passage; the clip is inserted into the completed, cool casting.

Can I use an offset hook with the clip?

Yes, provided its eye suits the clip and the connection stays secure and moves freely. Choose the hook size for the soft bait and test the complete assembly before fishing.

Are the clips different in packs of 50 and 500?

No. Both contain type A in different quantities. Choose the compatible cavity first, then the pack size you will actually use.
