Product detailed description
Detailed product description
The Your Mold BL1 steel casting strip is a removable casting component for Cheburashka weights with the smaller passage. It is 0.6 mm thick, 3 mm wide and 100 mm long. Seat it in the specified mold groove before pouring and withdraw it after the metal solidifies. It leaves a passage in the lead for the finished connecting clip and hook, which are fitted during assembly.
BL1 is used throughout the F161 round 2–16 g mold and F173 14–30 g mold, as well as olive F174 at 6–22 g and light fish-head F184. In fish-head F183 it is used only for 11, 13, 16 and 18 g; the larger 20, 24, 28 and 31 g cavities use BL2. Select the strip by mold and cavity. The same weight from another model may use a different passage system.
The strip is not the finished Cheburashka clip. BL1 does not form the final hook connection and does not remain in the rig. In F161, 2–10 g uses A and 12/14/16 g uses B despite sharing the same strip. F173 uses B throughout. F184 uses A/B by casting size, and ready-made B is confirmed in F183 only for 11/13 g. Strip section alone therefore does not identify the finished clip.
Use a separate BL1 as a replacement for a lost, damaged or worn original. The specifications for F161, F173, F174 and F184 include two strips with each mold. Check what you already have before ordering a spare. This pack contains one strip, not a pair or a set of connecting clips.
Before use, check straightness, a clean surface and exact seating in the groove. Follow the instructions for any release product and do not leave the component damp. Do not force the mold closed over a bent or incorrectly seated strip. Check the first casting for complete filling and a clear passage, then test the correct clip. Coating on the finished weight must not obstruct clip insertion.
BL1 dimensions and applications
| Mold or dimension | BL1 application | Finished rig clip |
|---|---|---|
| Dimensions | 0.6 mm thick × 3 mm wide × 100 mm long | 1 strip per pack |
| F161 | All 2–16 g cavities | A for 2–10 g; B for 12/14/16 g |
| F173 | All 14–30 g cavities | B |
| F174 | All 6–22 g cavities | Match clip length and shape to the casting |
| F184 | Entire light fish-head range | A for three lightest weights; otherwise B |
| F183 | Only 11 / 13 / 16 / 18 g | B only for 11/13 g; otherwise custom clip |
BL2 is a different size for different cavities. It is not automatically a replacement for BL1. Do not force a wider strip into a thin groove or modify the mold that way; follow the specified system for the individual casting.
Using BL1 to cast Cheburashka weights
- Choose a compatible mold and cavity. Prepare a clean, straight and completely dry BL1 strip and working tools.
- Follow the instructions for any release product. Seat the strip in its groove and check complete mold closure without force.
- Secure the mold and cast according to the mold, metal and melting equipment instructions, including the specified working temperature.
- After solidification and safe cooling, remove the casting and withdraw the strip. Check the passage and trim the sprue.
- Fit the correct clip and hook to the finished, cool weight. Check locking and articulation, then clean and store the strip for further use.
The connecting clip is selected separately for the individual cavity. A BL1 pack contains one casting component and does not confirm that any A/B clip fits every casting. Check the first completed piece before preparing a larger run.
Casting strip safety
- Never pour molten metal into a damp mold; the strip, inserted components and tools must also be completely dry.
- Wear safety glasses and suitable gloves and use a stable, heat-resistant work area.
- Provide effective ventilation and follow the instructions for the metal, auxiliary products and melting equipment you use.
- Keep food, drinks and smoking away from the work area; keep lead-working equipment separate from household utensils and wash your hands afterwards.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Does BL1 remain in the Cheburashka?
No. It is a removable strip forming the passage. The finished clip and hook are inserted into the completed, cool casting.
Do I need to order BL1 with a new F161?
The F161 specification includes two strips with the mold. A separate BL1 is a replacement or spare; this pack contains one.
Does BL1 automatically mean clip A?
No. F173 uses B with BL1, while F161 splits A/B by cavity. Passage dimensions are only part of compatibility; clip length and shape also matter.
Which F183 cavities use BL1?
11, 13, 16 and 18 g. The 20, 24, 28 and 31 g cavities use BL2. Ready-made B is confirmed for F183 only at 11 and 13 g.
What if the mold will not close over the strip?
Check the correct type, cleanliness, straightness and seating in the groove. Do not use force; replace a damaged or unsuitable strip with the correct component.
