Lead Casting Mold F183 – Fish-Head Cheburashka Weights 11-31g
Code: YM/0183Related products
Product detailed description
The Your Mold F183 lead casting mold produces fish-head Cheburashka weights from 11 to 31 g. Its eight cavities cast 11, 13, 16, 18, 20, 24, 28 and 31 g. It retains the articulated connection between hook and weight while offering different proportions from round or olive Cheburashkas. Use it for soft-bait lure fishing when you want to compare weight profiles and how the head meets the front of the lure across a range of loads.
Choose the fish-head profile as part of the complete rig. Head length and depth affect the transition into a paddle-tail shad, twister or slim straight-tail lure. The shape alone does not guarantee fewer snags or a better fall in every situation. Compare a similar actual weight with the same soft bait and a suitable hook. You can then assess bottom contact and changes of pace without changing every part of the setup at once.
The mold has two passage systems. The 11, 13, 16 and 18 g castings use BL1, 0.6 mm thick and 3 mm wide. For 20, 24, 28 and 31 g, use BL2, 1.2 mm thick and 5 mm wide. A strip is seated in its groove during casting and removed after the metal solidifies; it does not stay in the rig. The SAF listing includes the steel strips with the mold. Separately listed strips also serve as replacements for lost or worn components.
The ready-made Your Mold B Cheburashka clip is confirmed by the manufacturer only for 11 and 13 g. Ready-made inserts are not specified for the other six weights. For custom connectors, SAF specifies 0.5–0.6 mm wire for the smaller passage and 1.0–1.2 mm for the larger passage. The Your Mold stainless steel wire is shaping material, not a finished compatible clip. Arm length and locking geometry must be matched to the casting and tested first.
BL2 does not automatically mean clip C. Although the larger cavities use the wider strip, a finished clip must also match the fish-head body length and locking shape. Do not transfer the fitting from round F179 or F178 castings merely because the passage section or weight is similar. Likewise, do not assume A fits the smaller F183 weights. If you want to assemble a whole weight range using ready-made clips, compare the round F173, which uses B throughout its 14–30 g range.
Choose the hook for the soft bait’s size, point position and intended presentation. Its eye must pivot on the clip without interfering with secure locking. With an offset hook, check point placement and room for release on a strike; an exposed single hook needs a clear point above the lure. F184 offers lighter fish-head Cheburashkas, while F194 and F195 produce screw-in fish heads. The screw-in system holds the lure with a spring and uses separate hook rigging, so it is a different assembly rather than simply another mold number.
F183 weights, casting strips and clips
| Nominal lead casting weight | Steel casting strip | Connecting clip |
|---|---|---|
| 11 g | BL1 · 0.6 × 3 mm | Your Mold B |
| 13 g | BL1 · 0.6 × 3 mm | Your Mold B |
| 16 g | BL1 · 0.6 × 3 mm | Custom-shaped; no ready-made clip confirmed |
| 18 g | BL1 · 0.6 × 3 mm | Custom-shaped; no ready-made clip confirmed |
| 20 g | BL2 · 1.2 × 5 mm | Custom-shaped; no ready-made clip confirmed |
| 24 g | BL2 · 1.2 × 5 mm | Custom-shaped; no ready-made clip confirmed |
| 28 g | BL2 · 1.2 × 5 mm | Custom-shaped; no ready-made clip confirmed |
| 31 g | BL2 · 1.2 × 5 mm | Custom-shaped; no ready-made clip confirmed |
The table separates a confirmed clip from material for custom shaping. The 16 and 18 g cavities still use BL1, but this does not confirm a ready-made B clip. At 20–31 g, the change to BL2 does not confirm C. Finish and assemble a first test casting from every cavity you plan to use, then reproduce a connector shape only after checking its fit.
From F183 mold to a finished fish-head Cheburashka
- Choose the weight and matching strip: BL1 for 11/13/16/18 g, BL2 for 20/24/28/31 g. Prepare a clean, completely dry mold, strip and tools.
- Seat the strip accurately in its groove. Follow the release product’s instructions if using one. Check that both halves close fully without force and secure the mold.
- Cast according to the mold, metal and melting equipment instructions. Use the working temperature specified for your process and fill the selected cavity steadily.
- After solidification and safe cooling, remove the casting and strip and trim the sprue. Check that the fish-head profile is complete and the passage is clear.
- Weigh the first casting and finish its surface. Fit B to 11/13 g; for other weights, test your custom clip, its locking action and the movement of your chosen hook first.
The stated weights are nominal lead casting weights. Alloy composition, cavity filling and sprue trimming affect the result, so weigh the first castings. Other low-melting metals can change the weight. Follow the coating product’s instructions, keep the passage clear and assemble only after the head has cooled. Clips, wire, hooks and workshop equipment are selected separately. Separate BL1 and BL2 strips are replacement casting components for this mold system.
Casting safety
- Never pour molten metal into a damp mold; the strip, inserted components and tools must also be completely dry.
- Wear safety glasses and suitable gloves and use a stable, heat-resistant work area.
- Provide effective ventilation and follow the instructions for the metal, auxiliary products and melting equipment you use.
- Keep food, drinks and smoking away from the work area; keep lead-working equipment separate from household utensils and wash your hands afterwards.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use B in every F183 cavity?
No. The manufacturer confirms it only for 11 and 13 g. No ready-made clip is confirmed for 16, 18, 20, 24, 28 or 31 g; these require a suitably shaped custom connector.
Why can I not put C in every larger cavity?
The same BL2 strip confirms the passage section, not the required clip length or locking geometry. F183 fish-head castings differ from the round F178 and F179 weights for which C is confirmed.
When should I choose F183 instead of a round Cheburashka?
When you want a fish-head profile in front of the soft bait while retaining hook articulation. Compare the same lure and a similar actual weight, and allow for custom connector shaping in six cavities.
Does the steel strip remain in the head?
No. It forms the passage during casting and is removed after solidification. The clip and hook are fitted to the completed, cool casting.
Must I fill all eight cavities in one pour?
No. Follow the instructions and fill the required cavities with the correct strip in place. Before a larger run, check the weight and complete assembly of the first casting.
