SAF Mixer helps you thoroughly mix cold plastisol before making soft plastic lures. Components in Cristallo STP can settle at the bottom of the bottle and form a firm layer. The drill paddle helps work this material back into the entire mixture, so you do not pour off only the thin upper layer for heating. Preparation takes place directly in the bottle.
How to use SAF Mixer
- Stand the bottle securely and prevent it from rotating. Secure the paddle firmly in the drill chuck and insert the head into the cold plastisol before starting.
- Start at low speed. As the sediment begins to loosen, gradually increase the speed and mix thoroughly.
- Work the material from the bottom into the entire contents until you have a uniform, milky mixture. Keep the head submerged and adjust the speed to limit splashing and unnecessary air entrapment.
- Stop the drill completely before withdrawing the paddle. Once the entire contents are evenly mixed, pour the required portion into a suitable heating container.
Sized for the verified 1 L STP bottle
- The 230 mm overall length allows the head to reach the bottom of our approximately 190 mm tall STP bottle when correctly secured in the chuck.
- The 30 mm mixing head passes through its neck, which has an internal opening of approximately 35 mm.
For other containers, check the internal neck diameter and the paddle's reach after securing it in the chuck.
Frequently asked questions about SAF Mixer
Is shaking the bottle enough?
Shaking settled STP may not fully incorporate the firm layer at the bottom. What matters is a uniform mixture throughout the entire bottle.
How long should I mix, and at what speed?
Use the condition of the mixture as your guide. Aim for a uniform, milky mixture without separated layers or unmixed sediment; there is no universal time or speed.
Will it fit other bottles?
We have checked the fit in the 1 L STP bottle described above. For other bottles, check the neck opening and the required working depth.
Can I use it in a 5 L canister?
This size is best suited to the verified 1 L bottle. A larger mixing paddle is more practical for thoroughly mixing a larger batch in a 5 L canister.
Does plastisol still need stirring during heating?
Yes. SAF Mixer is used here for cold preparation in the bottle. After pouring and during the first heating, keep stirring with a suitable dry tool. For more on the material, see STP Xtra Soft Trout.
