SaBoFlex Fluo Transparent Orange is a concentrated fluorescent pigment paste for colouring plastisol in translucent orange shades when making soft plastic lures. It can produce anything from a light, warm orange tint to a richer high-visibility layer; the product name itself does not define one fixed degree of transparency. This is a colour concentrate designed to be mixed into plastisol – not ready-to-use plastisol, an airbrush paint or a surface coating.

Fluo Transparent Orange denotes a transparent fluorescent orange shade. A low dose in a thin section may appear light and bright, whereas a thicker body or higher concentration will produce a fuller, optically darker orange. The base plastisol, other additives and lighting also affect the result. The appearance of the concentrate in the bottle is therefore not an exact colour sample of the finished lure; assess a fully cooled test casting instead.

This version is not the same as SaBoFlex Fluo Gold Orange, Fluo Dark Orange, Standard Orange or Transparent Amber. Each name denotes a separate shade or product range; Transparent Orange specifically combines fluorescent character with translucent colouring. The Fluo designation does not mean phosphorescent afterglow, and in the absence of a technical data sheet we do not claim separately guaranteed UV activity, a metallic effect, nanoglitter or non-migrating properties.

For workshop use, SAF recommends adding this paste in small increments to plastisol that is already hot and clear. The warmth, intensity and transparency of the shade are difficult to assess in cold, milky plastisol. In clear plastisol at working temperature, you can see the change after each addition and build the orange gradually. Always prepare the plastisol in accordance with its manufacturer's instructions and do not overheat it.

We do not specify a universal number of drops per 100 g. Drop size varies with the dispensing nozzle, while the plastisol, lure thickness and lighting can all alter the result. Begin with a small amount, mix thoroughly after every addition and allow the test sample to cool before judging it. Record successful ratios, as colour that has already been added cannot be removed from the mixture.

Fluo Transparent Orange can be used for a complete translucent body, a warm belly, flank, tail, head or smaller high-visibility detail. In a laminated lure, it can clearly separate a dark black, smoke or brown layer; transparent yellow or red can be used to explore smooth, warm transitions. Suitable heat-resistant gold, copper, red or holographic glitter can add reflection. Test every new recipe in a small batch first and inspect the finished sample under the type of light in which the lure will be used.

The 50 g version is a practical choice for an initial trial, small batches and workshops using a broad range of fluorescent shades. The 250 g pack makes more sense for regular production or repeated use of the same recipe, offers a better price per gram and is easier to homogenise by shaking because of the greater mass of its contents. Pack size does not change the concentration or working method.

Storage and packaging appearance

The colour paste and base plastisol are not the same material in storage terms. In SAF workshop experience, Fluo Transparent Orange remains easier to process in cooler conditions than plastisol itself, but the manufacturer does not publish a precise minimum storage temperature. Do not therefore treat the colour as frost-proof. Store it upright, tightly closed and dry at a stable room temperature, away from direct sunlight, heat sources and frost. If the closed bottle becomes chilled, allow it to return naturally to room temperature before opening, then shake it thoroughly. Do not warm it on a radiator or hotplate, or in a microwave.

Packaging note: with concentrated pigment paste, a light oily film may sometimes appear around the thread or leave a mark on the label, particularly after transport, even when the bottle is closed. Provided there is no visible loss of contents, this surface trace does not affect the use of the colour; we apologise if the label is affected. After dispensing, wipe the nozzle and thread, tighten the cap again and store the bottle upright, ideally in a washable tray or sealable bag.
