ICE fish Fleuron 0.8 mm is a versatile sea fishing leader line for anglers who want a strong and durable material for cod species, heavier spinning and classic sea rigs. It works very well in front of jigs and pilks up to around 200 g, and it is also used in freshwater fishing as a strong leader material for pike.

Detailed information

Product detailed description

ICE fish Fleuron 0.8 mm is a very practical leader line for sea fishing, mainly used where you need a good balance of durability, still-manageable rig tying and versatile use when targeting cod species. This diameter makes a lot of sense for classic cod rigs, leaders in front of lures and other setups that need to handle contact with the bottom, fish pressure and harder use in real sea fishing conditions.

Based on the available information, this is not a pure fluorocarbon line, but a hybrid construction combining a nylon core with an abrasion-resistant outer layer. In practice, that matters because Fleuron is not built mainly around marketing claims about invisibility, but around real function in sea fishing. It offers good abrasion resistance, solid knot strength and a robust character for situations where an ordinary braided line would be much more vulnerable to damage or cut-offs.

The 0.8 mm diameter is very often used for cod teaser rigs and other classic systems with loops and droppers tied directly from the line. That is exactly where this diameter becomes very useful. It already offers a strong reserve of strength, but it is still not so stiff and awkward that normal rig tying becomes unnecessarily difficult. That makes it a very sensible choice for anglers building reliable and functional setups for Atlantic cod, skrei cod, coalfish, pollock and other strong fish of cold-water sea fishing.

ICE fish Fleuron 0.8 mm also works very well for heavier spinning in sea fishing, especially on rods designed for lures in the range of roughly 100 to 200 g. At this point, the leader is no longer used only in traditional pilking, but also in more powerful spinning applications where it has to handle casting pressure, lure action and hard strikes in greater depth and speed. With strong fish such as bigger cod or pollock, the final section of the setup plays a major role, and 0.8 mm is a very useful compromise between strength and practicality.

This diameter also makes sense in front of jigs and pilks in the lower to medium-heavy weight range, typically up to around 200 g. It is not meant for the heaviest extreme-duty rigs, but that is exactly why it works so well as a more universal option for anglers who switch between classic cod systems, heavier spinning and standard sea leaders in open-water fishing.

An interesting point is that ICE fish Fleuron 0.8 mm is also used in freshwater fishing. Some anglers buy it as a strong leader material for pike, using it to make shorter leaders in front of wobblers and other pike lures. At this diameter, it is already a very durable material that is much harder for pike to bite through, while still offering an interesting alternative for anglers who do not want to use a classic wire trace.

Compared with an ordinary lower-cost monofilament, Fleuron offers better durability for sea fishing leaders and a more robust character for harder use. Compared with pure fluorocarbon, its role is different — instead of focusing on the lowest possible visibility in the water, it leans more on practicality, abrasion resistance and price/performance value. At 0.8 mm, that balance is especially clear, because this is already a seriously strong diameter while still remaining very usable for classic tied rigs.

ICE fish Fleuron belongs among the long-established and well-known lines in the sea fishing leader segment. In the 0.8 mm version, it is a very practical choice for anglers who want one durable and versatile material for cod teaser rigs, leaders in front of jigs and pilks, heavier sea spinning and, in some cases, even for building strong pike leaders.
