Guideline Aeon Black/Gold Fly Reel
Code: GL110741Product detailed description
Guideline Aeon Black/Gold Fly Reel is a premium fly reel for switch rods and double-handed salmon rods, combining a timeless reel silhouette with modern drag performance, precise CNC machining and a refined Scandinavian design. The Black/Gold version has a technical, elegant and slightly warmer look than the Black/Silver model, while keeping the same strong Aeon platform for demanding salmon, sea trout and larger fly fishing applications.
The reel is built around a CNC-machined T6061 aluminium construction, a full-frame body and a sealed carbon drag system with 7.5 kg of braking force. The drag is protected against water and dirt, has enough reserve for powerful fish and still remains smooth and controllable when fishing lighter tippets, running lines or long shooting heads. Aeon reels are supplied with left-hand retrieve, but can easily be converted to right-hand retrieve.
The Aeon series is also distinctive in sound and feel. Guideline uses an augmented acoustics concept to give the reel a clear, recognisable and more traditional sound in both directions. A practical detail is the engraved line capacity inside the reel foot, helping you choose the right line and backing setup without unnecessary guesswork.
Choosing the correct size is important with this model. #79 is the lightest option for switch rods and lighter double-handed rods, #911 is the stronger all-round size for longer double-handed rods around line classes 9/10 and 10/11, while #1113 is the largest version for big salmon rods and powerful double-handed setups.

Frequently Asked Questions – Guideline Aeon Black/Gold Fly Reel
Which Guideline Aeon Black/Gold size should I choose?
#79 is the best choice for switch rods and lighter double-handed rods, #911 is the main all-round size for longer double-handed rods in line classes 9/10 to 10/11, and #1113 is made for the largest double-handed rods, stronger lines and powerful salmon setups.
Is the Aeon Black/Gold suitable for salmon fishing?
Yes. The full-frame construction, sealed carbon drag system and 7.5 kg braking force make the Aeon Black/Gold a strong option for salmon, sea trout and other powerful fish when fishing switch or double-handed tackle.
What is the difference between #79, #911 and #1113?
The difference is mainly in diameter, spool width, weight and line/backing capacity. Larger sizes are better matched with longer, heavier double-handed rods and larger spey or shooting head setups.
Does the reel have a sealed drag system?
Yes. The Aeon uses a sealed carbon drag system protected against water and dirt. This makes it suitable for demanding fishing conditions where smooth drag control and braking reserve are important.
Can the retrieve direction be changed?
Yes. The reel is supplied with left-hand retrieve, but it can easily be converted to right-hand retrieve according to the angler’s preference.
