SaBoFlex Ghost Interference Gold is a concentrated pigment paste for colouring plastisol when making soft-plastic fishing lures. It belongs to the SaBoFlex metallic colour range. This is a colour concentrate designed to be mixed into plastisol – not ready-to-use plastisol, an airbrush paint or a surface coating.
Ghost Interference Gold gives the lure a warm gold metallic highlight that shifts as it turns relative to the light. The visual strength of the effect depends on the chosen base, the dose, the thickness of the casting and the conditions in which the lure is viewed.
Ghost Interference Gold is not a substitute for Standard Yellow or a universal recipe for a uniformly gold casting. The relevant feature is its shifting gold reflection after cooling. The name does not mean fluorescent, UV-active or glow-in-the-dark, and it does not define the opacity of the mixture.
The correct workshop method for this SaBoFlex colour is to add it in small amounts to plastisol that is already hot and clear. Unheated transparent base plastisol looks milky or cloudy, making the final intensity difficult to judge. Once the plastisol has reached the clear working state specified by its manufacturer, you can see the change after each addition and build the result gradually. Do not overheat the plastisol.
We do not specify a fixed number of drops per 100 g. Drop size varies with the dispensing nozzle, while the finished result also depends on the base plastisol, casting thickness, other additives and lighting. Start with a small amount: a result that is too light can be intensified, but colour already added cannot be removed. For repeatable batches, record the amount of plastisol, the colour dose and all other additives.
Mix the colour first, then dose it
SAF workshop tip for easier homogenisation: we recommend placing 2 clean, completely dry stainless-steel mixing balls in the 50 g bottle and 2–3 in the 250 g bottle. They help redistribute settled pigment more quickly and make the paste uniform before dosing. Do not use lead balls or ordinary steel that may corrode. Mixing balls are not included with the colour.
- Stir the base plastisol thoroughly from the bottom, then heat it to the clear working state specified by its manufacturer; do not overheat it.
- Shake or stir Ghost Interference Gold thoroughly before dosing so that its colour and consistency are uniform throughout the bottle, with no settled layer at the bottom.
- Add a small amount of colour to the hot, clear plastisol, then stir the mixture slowly but thoroughly.
- Check the result on a thin, cooled drop or test casting. Build the intensity gradually with further small additions.
- Add glitter and other visual additives only at the end. Record the proven recipe so that it can be reproduced in the next batch.
The gold reflection suits scale imitations, illuminated flanks and bellies, highlighted backs and layers in olive, brown or amber-coloured lures. It can be a subtle detail or a dominant element, but the final recipe should be built gradually and checked only after cooling.
The 50 g option is practical for trying the shade, making smaller batches or equipping a workshop that uses a wider palette. The 250 g bottle is better suited to regular production or repeated recipes, offers better value per gram and is easier to homogenise by shaking because of the greater mass of its contents. The concentration and method of use are the same for both pack sizes.
Storage and packaging appearance
The pigment paste and base plastisol are different materials and should not be treated identically in storage. In SAF workshop experience, this colour remains easier to work with in cooler conditions than plastisol itself, but the manufacturer does not publish an exact minimum storage temperature. Do not regard it as frost-resistant. Store the bottle upright, tightly closed and dry at a stable room temperature, away from direct sunlight, heat sources and frost. If the sealed bottle has become cold, allow it to return naturally to room temperature before opening, then shake it thoroughly. Do not warm it on a radiator, hot plate or in a microwave oven.
Packaging notice: Especially after transport, a light oily film may appear around the thread or leave a mark on the label, even when the bottle is closed. If there is no visible loss of contents, this surface trace does not affect the use of the colour; we apologise for any marking of the label. After dosing, wipe the bottle neck and thread, retighten the cap firmly and store the bottle upright, ideally in a washable tray or sealed bag.
Working safely with hot plastisol
- Hot plastisol can cause severe burns. Wear safety glasses, heat-resistant gloves, clothing that covers your arms and legs, and closed footwear.
- Work on a stable, heat-resistant surface. Ensure effective ventilation, ideally with local exhaust ventilation directly at the source. Follow the safety and temperature instructions provided by the plastisol manufacturer and do not overheat the mixture.
- If the safety data sheet for the plastisol being used, or an assessment of the working conditions, requires respiratory protection, select a mask and filter suitable for the specific substances and conditions. An ordinary particulate dust mask may not protect against gases and vapours.
- The container, dispensing nozzle and mixing tools must be clean and completely dry. Prevent water and other unsuitable liquids from coming into contact with hot plastisol.
- Close the bottle tightly after use, keep it out of reach of children and follow the current product label and safety data sheet.

Is Ghost Interference Gold the same as yellow plastisol colour?
No. Gold is intended to create a metallic gold highlight that changes with light and viewing angle, whereas the main purpose of a standard yellow is the base shade itself.
Which base plastisols can be used with the gold effect?
It can be tested in clear or already tinted plastisol, but every base shifts the appearance of the gold reflection. Always make a small trial batch for a new recipe and do not rely on the colour in the bottle.
