Detailed information

Product detailed description

Westin CudaKid 180EFS Sinking 18 cm / 57 g – Sardine is a fast-sinking saltwater stickbait designed mainly for warm-water and tropical fishing. This is not a pilker, metal jig or classic soft lure. CudaKid is a long, slim hard bait built for long casts, fast retrieves, deep walking action and aggressive predators hunting slender baitfish below the surface.

The 180EFS version measures 18 cm and weighs 57 g. That makes it a strong casting lure for situations where you need to cover water, reach feeding fish and keep the lure working below the surface even in wind, current or broken water. The extra-fast sinking character helps you get the bait down into the strike zone quickly, while the slim body keeps resistance low during the retrieve.

The Sardine colour is a natural pelagic baitfish pattern for clear to moderately clear water, tropical reef edges, current lines, harbour mouths, rocky shorelines and situations where predators are feeding on sardines, anchovies, young barracuda or other long silver prey. It is not an overly aggressive colour. Its strength is in its natural baitfish profile, flash and realistic food signal.

In warm saltwater, CudaKid makes strong sense for barracuda, snapper, bluefish, amberjack, bonito, Spanish mackerel and smaller jacks. It is made for active predators that react to speed, flash, directional changes and the silhouette of a fleeing baitfish. Around reefs, drop-offs, current breaks and baitfish schools, this is exactly the type of lure that can trigger hard, fast attacks.

The key action is not a passive wobble. CudaKid is meant to be worked actively. You can retrieve it fast, use jerk-and-pause movements, let it sink into the desired depth and then sweep it through the water column. The deep walking action gives the lure a side-to-side escape movement below the surface, which is ideal when predators follow but need a stronger trigger before striking.

The construction also matches its purpose. A saltwater stickbait for tropical fishing must handle hard strikes, fast fish and repeated contact with saltwater. CudaKid is built as a robust hard lure with a slim body, strong internal construction and heavy-duty saltwater hook setup. That gives it the confidence needed for rougher coastal fishing, reef edges and hard-fighting predators.

Although CudaKid is primarily a warm-water lure, it also has a useful crossover into colder seas. In Norway, fjords or other cold-water destinations, the long slim profile can make sense for pollack, saithe, mackerel and active cod feeding in the water column. It is not a bottom lure for slow deep-water fishing. Its cold-water role is more about casting, searching, working edges and targeting active fish that chase baitfish above the bottom.

The 18 cm / 57 g Sardine version is ideal for anglers who want a serious saltwater stickbait for tropical trips, warm-water shore fishing, reef edges and fast predators, but also want a lure that can still make sense in cold saltwater when fish are hunting long silver prey. If you need a metal jig for fluttering on the drop, choose a lure like Flashin' Anchovy or Herrix Jig. If you want a fast-sinking hard bait with deep walking action and a long baitfish profile, CudaKid is the right tool.

FAQ – Westin CudaKid 180EFS 18 cm / 57 g Sardine

What is Westin CudaKid 180EFS best used for?

CudaKid 180EFS is best used as a fast-sinking saltwater stickbait for warm-water predators, long casts, aggressive retrieves, deep walking action and fishing around reefs, current breaks, rocky shorelines and baitfish schools.

Is CudaKid a pilker or metal jig?

No. CudaKid is a hard saltwater stickbait, not a pilker or metal jig. It is designed to be cast and worked actively with fast retrieves, jerks, pauses, controlled sink and deep walking action below the surface.

Why does the Sardine colour make sense?

Sardine is a natural pelagic baitfish pattern. It makes sense in clear to moderately clear water and in places where predators are feeding on sardines, anchovies, young barracuda or other long silver baitfish.

Which fish can I target with CudaKid in warm saltwater?

In warm saltwater, CudaKid makes sense for barracuda, snapper, bluefish, amberjack, bonito, Spanish mackerel, smaller jacks and other active predators feeding on slender baitfish.

Can CudaKid be used in Norway or cold saltwater?

Yes, but as a crossover lure. In cold saltwater it makes the most sense for pollack, saithe, mackerel and active cod feeding in the water column. It is not meant as a slow bottom lure or a heavy deep-water bait.

How should I retrieve Westin CudaKid?

Use fast retrieves, jerk-and-pause action, long sweeps, controlled sink and deep walking movements. Let the lure sink to the right depth, then work it through the water column like a fleeing or injured baitfish.

Is CudaKid suitable for big tuna or heavy offshore fishing?

This product should not be presented as a heavy offshore tuna lure. It is a strong saltwater stickbait for active coastal and light offshore predators, but big-game tuna fishing usually requires heavier and more specialised tackle.
