Product detailed description

Rubber paint in the Black shade is designed for coating lead weights and creates a tough, durable surface layer that stands up to hard use on gravel, stones, and in weeded areas. It’s most commonly used on heavy carp sinkers and casting weights (in-line leads, backleads, flat leads and other heavy weights that take a beating during fishing).

Compared to powder paint, this rubber coating is thicker and heavier, which makes the application more demanding—especially when using a paint roller. If you run an air-driven paint roller, we recommend the Hailea ACO 208 compressor, which provides stable airflow and enough power reserve for rubber paint.

Shades can be mixed together, so you can fine-tune your own tone (darker, lighter, or “dirtier” camo depending on bottom and water). Best practice: mix small batches first and test on one sinker.

recommended application (proven in practice):

  1. preparation: the lead must be clean and degreased (clean surface = the coating holds)

  2. heating: heat the lead to approx. 160–200 °C (in a convection oven usually 10–15 min; with a torch just a few seconds—do not let the lead start to melt)

  3. applying the paint (2 options):

    • paint roller: best for larger batches; rubber paint needs stable power (that’s why Hailea ACO 208)

    • quick dip into the powder: dip the hot lead briefly and remove immediately; shake the container beforehand to “fluff” the powder

  4. tapping off excess: gently tap off the extra powder for an even layer

  5. curing: for maximum durability, cure at approx. 180 °C for 10–20 min

  6. cooling: let it cool freely in air or hang it to cool

tip: for a camo effect, lightly sprinkle a second shade onto the warm base layer (or mix shades beforehand) and then cure.
