BKK Fangs-62 UA #16 is the smallest and finest size in the entire range. It is designed for micro minnows and crankbaits measuring approximately 2–3.5 cm, the smallest spoons and small spinners where the influence of the hook on buoyancy, centre of gravity and action frequency must be kept to a minimum. It still uses a forged 2X construction, so it is not a conventional extra-fine 1X treble but a specific combination of minimal profile and additional strength reserve.
On a lure only a few centimetres long, the treble hook should form the smallest possible share of the overall weight and resistance. Size #16 makes sense only when its points remain exposed beyond the body. If the points are hidden or the hook is restricted at the hanger, move to #14. Identical size numbers are not standardised between brands, so always compare the actual hook with the original rigging.
The 2X designation describes the wire and strength class, not an exact load rating in kilograms. Fangs-62 is neither an extra-fine 1X treble nor a heavy-duty model for extreme fishing. With a small lure, confirm that the 2X construction preserves its action; at the same time, the additional mechanical reserve can be a practical advantage over a finer original hook.
The geometry is based on a traditional O’Shaughnessy bend. BKK combines it with a forged shank, regular eye and three needle-sharp points with standard barbs. According to the manufacturer, forging increases strength by approximately 20% compared with similar non-forged hooks. The reliability of the complete rig also depends on split-ring condition, point sharpness, drag setting and the angle at which the fish takes the lure.
The hook is manufactured from BKK-81WV high-carbon steel and finished with an Ultra-Antirust (UA) coating for increased corrosion resistance in saltwater. It can therefore be used in both freshwater and saltwater. After saltwater fishing, rinse the hook with fresh water, allow it to dry completely and inspect the points, eye, split ring and any mechanical damage to the coating.

Fangs-62 UA #16 is not automatically a substitute for every treble hook carrying the same size number.
