Treble-hook weight affects a lure more than it may initially appear. Changing the size or wire gauge can alter the sinking speed, angle, centre of gravity and intensity of movement of a hard lure or metal lure. A hook that is too heavy can dampen the action of a small wobbler, while a hook that is too fine may not provide enough strength for the target fish and drag setting.
