Fireball Jig Head & Magic Ball Molds
Fireball jig head and magic-ball molds for casting weighted heads for vertical baitfish fishing. Compare weights, cavity counts and specified eyelets or hooks; conventional Fireball jig heads and heads with cast-in eyelets require different inserts.

Fireball fishing presents a baitfish vertically beneath the boat using a weighted head and a suitable hook arrangement. A single hook holds the fish; an additional hooklink or stinger can place a treble farther along its body. Choose the hook positions and stinger length to suit the bait, allowing a natural presentation without pulling it into a bend.
The category contains different head constructions. F152 and F231 are conventional Fireball jig-head molds with their own hook requirements. F129 and F130 produce magic-ball heads; F139 produces the heavier fish-eye design. The manufacturer specifies cast-in eyelets for these three trailer molds. The shared category name does not establish compatibility of hooks, clips or other inserts.
The Aquantic Fireball System offered by SAF is a complete saltwater baitfish rig with a replaceable single hook and a fluorocarbon stinger carrying a treble. It illustrates the fishing principle and offers an alternative to assembling a rig yourself. Its quick-change fitting is specific to that finished system; it is not a verified insert for Your Mold trailer molds.
The same broad technique is used for freshwater catfish with deadbait, a whole baitfish or a fish section. Select the load by current and bait drag, and match hooks, hooklink and connectors to the expected strain. A heavy lead head alone does not certify the strength of the complete rig. A saltwater product name does not by itself define every possible freshwater application.
Weight selection depends on depth, current, drift, line angle and bait size. Use the lightest head that maintains the control you need. If the rig trails far behind the boat, review drift and weight together; adding lead does not guarantee a particular working depth. Include the bait and all rig components when assessing rod and tackle limits.
F129 offers 50 / 70 / 90 g. The F130 magic-ball mold continues at 110 / 140 / 170 g. F139 has two cavities for 240 and 280 g. These are nominal weights of individual castings, not the combined output of the mold.
F129 – magic balls 50 / 70 / 90 g – three cavities, one per weight; original Your Mold size 1 eyelets and 8 mm adhesive eyes.
F130 – magic balls 110 / 140 / 170 g – three cavities, one per weight; original Your Mold size 1 eyelets and 8 mm adhesive eyes.
F139 – fish-eye heads 240 / 280 g – two cavities, one per weight; original Your Mold size 2 eyelets and 8 mm adhesive eyes.
The specified metal eyelets remain cast into the head. Adhesive eyes are fitted after the casting and any coating have cooled. Original Your Mold eyelets are distinct from universal SAF loops; an identical size label is not sufficient proof of interchangeability. No directly cast jig-hook model is specified for F129, F130 or F139 in the checked manufacturer information.
A cheburashka with a removable wire clip has a different connection design. A spherical weight and articulated hook movement do not establish that a clip can be removed from the casting. A compatible removable clip and replacement passage have not been verified for these three molds. Choose a dedicated mold with a specified clip for that freshwater technique.
Prepare the mold and inserts with a dry-fit check. Choose the mold by weight and the specified hooks or eyelets. Clean and completely dry the mold, inserts and tools; check the position of each component and make sure both halves close fully without force.
Cast according to the mold and melting equipment instructions, then let the metal solidify and cool safely. Deburr and weigh the finished head and inspect the anchoring of its inserts. Apply the chosen finish according to its instructions, fit adhesive eyes after cooling and test every connection in the complete rig before use.
Powder and rubber coatings require their own application procedures. Keep attachment points clear and fit decorative eyes to a clean, dry, cool surface. Never infer a pouring temperature from the mold’s maximum temperature rating.
Check the first casting before making a batch. The alloy, trimming and finish affect actual weight; inspect the anchoring of the metal inserts as well. Other lead-casting equipment should be selected to suit the process and the particular mold.
The mold, inserts and tools must be completely dry before casting. Never pour molten metal into a damp mold. Wear safety glasses and suitable protective gloves and use a stable, heat-resistant workplace with effective ventilation. Follow the instructions for the mold, metal and melting equipment; a mold temperature limit is not a recommended pouring temperature.
Do not eat, drink or smoke while working with lead. Keep casting equipment separate from kitchen utensils and wash your hands thoroughly afterwards.
Frequently asked questions – Fireball jig head and magic-ball molds
Is every magic ball a conventional Fireball jig head?
No. The category contains several constructions. F129, F130 and F139 have specified eyelets, while conventional Fireball jig molds have their own hook requirements.
Which weights do the three trailer molds produce?
F129: 50/70/90 g; F130: 110/140/170 g; F139: 240/280 g. F129 and F130 have three cavities each, F139 has two.
Which eyelets and eyes are required?
F129 and F130 use size 1 original eyelets; F139 uses size 2. All three specify 8 mm adhesive eyes.
Can I use these molds for a removable cheburashka clip?
That compatibility has not been verified. Choose a dedicated clip mold with a specified insert.
Can Fireball fishing be used for freshwater catfish?
Yes, the technique includes vertical baitfish presentations for catfish. Match weight, hooks, hooklink and connectors to the bait and the expected strain.
Does Aquantic supply compatible inserts for these molds?
No such compatibility has been established. The linked Aquantic product is a complete finished saltwater rig and an alternative to assembling your own setup.
