Your Mold F231 casts four Fireball jig heads weighing 25, 30, 35 and 40 g. This weight range lets you adjust the load to depth, current and drift speed when presenting a bait vertically. The stated weights apply to lead castings; using another casting material changes the finished weight.

A Fireball rig uses a short hook that leaves more of the bait free. The documented hooks for F231 are VMC 7154 BN, with a 90° eye, 2X Strong construction and a Short Shank. Black Nickel is the hook finish, not a property of the mould. Compatibility depends on the specific hook model and size, rather than the eye angle alone.

Choose 1/0 or 2/0 to suit your bait. The hook size changes the space inside the bend and the bait attachment point; a heavier head does not automatically require a larger hook. With F231 you can therefore vary the head weight from 25 to 40 g while retaining your chosen hook model and size. For lighter heads, F152 covers 10–26 g, but accepts only VMC 7154 BN 1/0.

The four cavities let you prepare several head weights in one mould. Check the finished rig after contact with the bottom as well: the condition of the hook, point and attachment loops matters just as much as the head weight. Is F152 the same mould for lighter heads?

F152 is a similar Fireball mould for 10, 14, 18, 22 and 26 g heads, but it accepts only VMC 7154 BN 1/0. Size 2/0 does not fit F152, and the loop size depends on the cavity.

Can I use another hook model in the same size?

Not automatically. A 1/0 or 2/0 size label does not guarantee identical dimensions or geometry. The compatibility stated here applies to VMC 7154 BN; another model requires separate verification.
