TETRA APS 100 White Air Pump is a small air pump for simple home coating of lead castings in small fluid bed setups. Within the SAF fluid bed system, we recommend it mainly for the Amigo Fluid Bed and very fine powder paints for lead.

Its main purpose is to provide gentle airflow that lightly lifts fine powder paint inside a small plastic fluid bed cup. Once the powder is fluidised, it starts to behave like a fine liquid layer, allowing the preheated lead casting to be dipped briefly into the paint. This helps achieve a more even coating than ordinary dipping in a non-fluidised cup.

TETRA APS 100 White is suitable mainly for very fine powder paints. It makes sense when coating smaller jig heads, small cheburashka weights, small carp leads and compact fishing weights. For these smaller castings, a high air volume is not required, and the small air pump can work well when paired with the Amigo fluid bed.

However, it is important to understand its limits. APS 100 is not a universal compressor for all coating materials and all fluid beds. For heavier, coarser or less easily fluidised powder paints, the airflow may already be too weak. For rubber coatings for lead, we do not recommend it, because rubber coating is heavier than fine powder paint, creates more resistance and requires a much more stable airflow with greater performance reserve.

With the Medium fluid bed, APS 100 can only be used in a simple setup with very fine powder paint. If you want stronger and more stable airflow in the Medium fluid bed, a more powerful air pump such as APS 400 with a suitable splitter is a better choice. For rubber coatings in the Medium fluid bed, we recommend a stronger compressor, such as the Hailea ACO-208 Compressor for Rubber Coating.

For larger fluid beds, such as the Powder Paint Fluid Bed XL, APS 100 is not suitable. A larger fluid bed requires significantly more air volume and more performance reserve, especially when working with larger amounts of paint, bigger castings or rubber coatings for lead.

When does TETRA APS 100 White make the most sense?
– for the Amigo fluid bed,
– for very fine powder paints for lead,
– when coating smaller jig heads and small sinkers,
– for simple home coating of compact lead castings,
– when you do not want to use a larger compressor for just a few small pieces,
– as a basic air source for lightweight powder paints.

The air pump has one air outlet and an airflow of approximately 100 l/h. In the fluid bed setup, the airflow intensity is regulated with a small valve on the hose between the air pump and the fluid bed. Correct adjustment is important – the paint should only be gently lifted, not blown out of the cup.

Recommended basic workflow
1. Connect the air pump to a small fluid bed, such as the Amigo fluid bed.
2. Pour a suitable amount of very fine powder paint for lead into the cup.
3. Use the regulating valve on the hose to set gentle airflow.
4. Make sure the paint is lightly fluidised and not blown out of the cup.
5. Preheat the lead casting to the correct working temperature.
6. Dip the casting briefly into the fluidised paint and let the coating melt onto the surface.

TETRA APS 100 White Air Pump is recommended as a simple air source for small fluid bed setups and very fine powder paints. If you want to work with rubber coating, a larger fluid bed, coarser paint or a higher volume of lead castings, choose a more powerful solution – a stronger air pump for powder paints and the Hailea compressor for rubber coatings.
