Your Mold powder paint is a finishing material for lead castings, including fishing weights, jig heads and pilkers. It is applied after casting and deburring; the coating is not an insert fitted in a mold cavity. Match the process to the finished metal part and protect its functional openings.
Select the required variant and 50–80 g pack size. The selection includes standard colours, transparent powder and phosphorescent afterglow. Standard colours and afterglow are supplied in 80 g packs; transparent powder is 50 g. The product is not restricted to a gold-pearl shade.
Use the white variant as a base beneath NEON-UV colours. Fluorescent shades and phosphorescent afterglow are different effects: fluorescence responds to suitable illumination, while afterglow stores light and emits it after illumination has stopped. A white background helps the appearance of the afterglow variant. Clear powder is a transparent finish; its suitability over another coating must be checked for that system.
Coating procedure
- Clean, degrease and thoroughly dry the casting. Remove burrs, oxidation and release-agent residues.
- Loosen the powder before use. When using a fluid bed, adjust the air to a gentle, even movement rather than blowing powder out of the cup.
- Preheat the casting evenly. The existing practical guide uses approximately 180 °C before application; adapt the heat-up time to its size.
- Briefly dip the heated casting into the powder or apply it with a suitable sieve. Remove immediately and tap off excess to keep the layer even.
- Bake according to the selected variant’s instructions. The standard 7110 polyester technical sheet gives, for example, 180 °C for 10–40 minutes at the temperature of the part itself; other effect variants may use a different schedule. Allow for the casting to heat through.
- Allow to cool naturally, then check the coating, attachment eyes and line passage.
The amount of powder used depends on surface area, shape and layer thickness. A heavier lead does not by itself determine a fixed coating consumption. Make one test piece before coating a batch and check the finish after complete cooling.
For small castings and fine powders, Amigo is a practical fluid bed; Medium and XL offer more working space. Air requirements depend on powder type and fill level. Rubber coating powders need more airflow; Hailea ACO-208 provides reserve for this work. Remove plastic inserts and glued-on eyes before heating and fit them after cooling.
Safe coating practice
- Work with ventilation and avoid breathing powder dust. Follow the coating label and safety instructions; use suitable eye, hand and respiratory protection.
- Handle hot castings with suitable tools on a heat-resistant surface. Keep workshop heating equipment separate from food preparation.
- Remove heat-sensitive PVC tubes, plastic parts and glued-on eyes before heating. Keep line passages, attachment eyes and moving joints clear.
- Do not eat, drink or smoke while handling lead. Clean the work area and wash your hands after use.

Can I coat castings from different molds?
Yes, when the coating and heating process are suitable for the finished lead casting. The mold model alone does not determine coating compatibility.

Follow the selected coating’s label and technical instructions. Pack size and a similar colour do not establish an identical baking schedule.
How do I avoid a thick or uneven finish?
Use a clean surface, even preheating, loosened powder and a brief dip. Tap off excess and test one casting before a series.
