Gamakatsu Jig 90 4/0 is intended for larger zander soft lures and rigs where a smaller hook exits too close to the front. It also suits lighter pike fishing. With deeper-bodied paddle tails, check both the shank length and the space between the lure body, hook bend and point.

The soft lure should sit straight behind the jig head. The point should exit through a solid section of the body, leaving enough space between the lure and the hook bend for a secure hookset. With a slim soft jerkbait, focus on where the point exits. With a deeper-bodied paddle tail, also check that the lure body does not fill too much of the hook bend.

Before casting a batch, always test the particular hook size in a dry mould. The hook must sit correctly in its groove, and the mould must close freely and fully. If the hook does not fit, do not bend it to suit the mould. Use the correct hook instead.

The same 90° front bend does not make this hook automatically interchangeable with the VMC 5150 RD or VMC 5150 BN. These are different model ranges, and compatibility must be checked for the particular mould.
