Product detailed description

Your Mold NEON-UV fluorescent paint is a finishing material for lead castings, including fishing weights, jig heads and pilkers. It is applied after casting and deburring; the coating is not an insert fitted in a mold cavity. Match the process to the finished metal part and protect its functional openings.

Select the required variant and 80 g pack size. The range includes UV Pink, UV Yellow, UV Orange, UV Hell Orange, UV Green and UV Hell Green.

For this NEON-UV coating, start with standard white powder paint, available in Your Mold powder paints — choose White. The white layer forms an intermediate base between the lead and the relatively brittle neon coating and gives the fluorescent colour an even, bright background. Apply the neon layer over this prepared base; do not use bare lead as the recommended starting surface.

Coating procedure

  1. Clean, degrease and thoroughly dry the casting; remove burrs and residues of mold release.
  2. Apply a thin, even standard white powder base. Heat and prepare it for overcoating according to the base coating’s instructions.
  3. Apply the selected NEON-UV shade in a thin, even layer over the white base. Tap off excess powder and keep attachment eyes open.
  4. Complete the system with a compatible clear powder topcoat. The supplier specifies a two- or three-layer system; use a clear coat approved for the selected neon/base combination.
  5. Follow the baking conditions for the complete coating system. Initial melting of a layer is not the same as full curing; take account of the casting’s actual temperature.
  6. Let the casting cool naturally and check the finish and all functional openings before assembling the rig.

NEON-UV is a fluorescent effect, not a coating cured by a UV lamp and not an afterglow pigment. The supplier states limited UV and weather resistance; store coated items away from prolonged sunlight when not in use. The white base and clear topcoat are part of the recommended system.

For small castings and fine powders, Amigo is a practical fluid bed; Medium and XL offer more working space. Air requirements depend on powder type and fill level. Rubber coating powders need more airflow; Hailea ACO-208 provides reserve for this work. Remove plastic inserts and glued-on eyes before heating and fit them after cooling.

Safe coating practice

  1. Work with ventilation and avoid breathing powder dust. Follow the coating label and safety instructions; use suitable eye, hand and respiratory protection.
  2. Handle hot castings with suitable tools on a heat-resistant surface. Keep workshop heating equipment separate from food preparation.
  3. Remove heat-sensitive PVC tubes, plastic parts and glued-on eyes before heating. Keep line passages, attachment eyes and moving joints clear.
  4. Do not eat, drink or smoke while handling lead. Clean the work area and wash your hands after use.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

What is included?

The selected 80 g colour variant. Casting molds, white base, clear topcoat and coating equipment are sold separately.

Which base should I use?

Use a standard white powder paint as the base, then apply NEON-UV and a compatible clear topcoat. The white base forms an intermediate layer and provides an even background.

Does UV mean curing under a lamp?

No. NEON-UV is a fluorescent colour effect applied by heating. It is different from phosphorescent afterglow.

How do I avoid a thick or uneven finish?

Use a clean surface, even preheating, loosened powder and a brief dip. Tap off excess and test one casting before a series.
