Your Mold F57 aluminum lead mold produces swivel and inline leads. It has 3 cavities for nominal weights of 160 / 180 / 200 g. Fill individual cavities as needed.
F57 offers 160, 180 and 200 g with two rig constructions. Prepare each cavity for either an inline passage or a cast-in swivel attachment. Compare F43 for a lighter combined option, or F181 for a dedicated tapered inline system.
The shaped contact surface can help limit rolling and movement on the bottom. Actual holding depends on lead weight, bottom hardness and slope, current and line pull. Choose the weight for your fishing conditions and the load limits of the rod and complete rig; the profile alone does not guarantee holding or a casting distance.
For a swivel lead, fit a size 8 or 6 swivel to the relevant groove. For an inline lead, use a removable metal pin. Pull the pin out after the metal sets, then fit a separately sold 3 mm PVC tube into the cool, finished casting. These configurations do not make complete rigs automatically interchangeable. Finish the cleaned casting with a rubber lead coating according to the coating manufacturer’s instructions.

From F57 to a finished lead
- Prepare a clean, completely dry mold, inserts and tools. Select the required cavity or variant.
- Fit the specified insert (size 8 or 6 swivel for swivel leads; a metal pin for inline leads) and check full closure and secure holding without force.
- Cast according to the instructions for the mold, metal and melting equipment. Keep plastic and rubber inserts out of molten metal.
- After the metal sets and handling is safe, remove the casting and pull out the pin. Let the lead cool fully before fitting the liner.
- Check the attachment or the smooth line passage, then test the complete rig.
- Weigh and inspect the first casting before continuing with a larger batch.
Nominal weight refers to one casting. The metal and finishing affect actual weight. Respect the load limits of the rod and complete rig; an inline hole alone does not guarantee free-running or safe lead-release behavior.
Casting safety
- Never pour molten metal into a damp mold. Inserts and tools must also be completely dry.
- Wear safety glasses and suitable protective gloves; work on a stable, heat-resistant surface with effective ventilation.
- Follow the mold, metal and melting-equipment instructions. A mold temperature limit is not a recommended pouring temperature.
- Do not eat, drink or smoke when working with lead. Keep casting equipment separate from kitchen utensils and wash your hands afterwards.
