Product detailed description

The Weedy Green shade is a “weedy green” camo tone that blends in where your lead moves through weed, grass and vegetation. This rubberized coating for lead creates a tough, abrasion-resistant surface layer that helps protect the weight and keeps its finish even with frequent bottom contact.

In practice, it’s most often used on heavy carp leads and casting weights (in-line leads, backleads, flat weights, swivels/links and other leads meant for tougher handling). Compared to classic powder paint, this rubberized coating tends to feel denser and heavier during application—especially in a fluid bed—so consistent airflow matters for a smooth, even coat. That’s why the Hailea ACO 208 compressor makes sense here: it delivers stable output with enough power reserve for this job.

Big advantage: you can mix shades together. Weedy Green works as a base for natural “grassy/mossy” blends (slightly darker or “dirtier” depending on the bottom). We recommend mixing smaller batches and always testing one piece first.

recommended coating process (field-proven):

  1. prep: clean and degrease the lead (clean surface = better adhesion)

  2. heat: heat the lead to approx. 160–200 °C (hot-air oven usually 10–15 min, heat gun only a few seconds – the lead must not start melting)

  3. apply the coating:

fluid bed: best for batches; rubberized coating needs stable airflow (that’s why Hailea ACO 208)
quick dip into powder: dip the hot lead briefly and pull it out immediately; shake the powder container beforehand

  4. tap off: gently tap off excess powder for an even layer

  5. cure: for maximum durability, bake at about 180 °C for 10–20 min

  6. cool down: let it cool in open air or hang it to cure fully

tip for a “weedy” look: while the base coat is still warm, lightly dust a darker green (or brown) shade on top, or pre-mix the tones—then cure.
