Product detailed description

The Purple shade is a great choice when you want a bold look with real durability. It’s most commonly used on jig heads, cheburashka weights, pilkers, screw-in heads and terminal sinkers.

The key advantage of rubberized coating is mechanical durability — the finish holds well and resists abrasion better than standard powder paint. In saltwater this matters even more, because lead oxidizes quickly (chalky white layer, messy surface). A proper coating helps keep the lead protected and looking clean for longer.

In practice, rubberized coating performs best on “proper” lead pieces (pilkers, terminal sinkers, larger jig heads). Compared to standard powder paint it’s thicker, so when using a fluid bed you want stable, even airflow — that’s why the Hailea ACO 208 compressor makes sense for consistent batch results.

You can also mix shades — Purple works well as a bold accent or as a base for darker saltwater combinations. For extra attraction, combine it with high-temp SaBoFlex glitters.

recommended coating process (proven):

  1. prep: clean and degrease the lead (clean surface = better adhesion)

  2. heat: heat the lead to about 160–200 °C (hot-air oven usually 10–15 min, heat gun only seconds — do not let the lead start melting)

  3. apply coating:

    • fluid bed: best for batches; stable output is key (that’s why Hailea ACO 208)

    • quick dip into powder: dip hot lead briefly and pull it out immediately; shake the powder cup first

  4. tap off excess: remove excess powder for an even layer

  5. cure: for maximum durability, cure at about 180 °C for 10–20 min

  6. cool down: let it cool in air or hang it

durability tip: don’t skip curing on pilkers and terminal sinkers — this is where abrasion and saltwater punishment really shows.
