Your Mold F42 aluminum lead mold produces swivel leads. It has 3 cavities for nominal weights of 40 / 60 / 80 g. Fill individual cavities as needed.
The actual F42 has three cavities at 40, 60 and 80 g, not the four F78 cavities. The F42 parameters specify a size 8 swivel for the attachment. For a finer weight selection with a cast-in loop, compare F78 at 40, 50, 60 and 90 g.
The shaped contact surface can help limit rolling and movement on the bottom. Actual holding depends on lead weight, bottom hardness and slope, current and line pull. Choose the weight for your fishing conditions and the load limits of the rod and complete rig; the profile alone does not guarantee holding or a casting distance.
Use the size 8 swivel specified in the product parameters. Seat its cast-in portion correctly in the groove and keep the exposed section functional after casting. The same size number in another swivel range does not establish compatibility. Finish the cleaned casting with a rubber lead coating according to the coating manufacturer’s instructions.

From F42 to a finished lead
- Prepare a clean, completely dry mold, inserts and tools. Select the required cavity or variant.
- Fit the specified insert (size 8 swivel) and check full closure and secure holding without force.
- Cast according to the instructions for the mold, metal and melting equipment. Keep plastic and rubber inserts out of molten metal.
- After the metal sets and handling is safe, remove the casting and trim the sprue.
- Check the attachment or the smooth line passage, then test the complete rig.
- Weigh and inspect the first casting before continuing with a larger batch.
Nominal weight refers to one casting. The metal and finishing affect actual weight. Respect the load limits of the rod and complete rig; an inline hole alone does not guarantee free-running or safe lead-release behavior.
Casting safety
- Never pour molten metal into a damp mold. Inserts and tools must also be completely dry.
- Wear safety glasses and suitable protective gloves; work on a stable, heat-resistant surface with effective ventilation.
- Follow the mold, metal and melting-equipment instructions. A mold temperature limit is not a recommended pouring temperature.
- Do not eat, drink or smoke when working with lead. Keep casting equipment separate from kitchen utensils and wash your hands afterwards.
