Lead Coating Powder - Sand Camo

Product detailed description
Sand Camo is a light sandy shade designed to blend in on clean sand, pale gravel and bright bottoms. This rubberized lead coating / plastic coating powder forms a tough, abrasion-resistant surface that helps protect the sinker during repeated casting and contact with gravel or stones.
Most commonly used on heavy carp leads and casting sinkers (in-line leads, backleads, flat weights, swivel leads and other hard-wearing styles). Compared to standard powder paints, this rubber coating is thicker and can feel more demanding in application—especially when you’re running a fluid bed. For stable airflow and consistent results, we recommend the Hailea ACO 208 compressor for fluid bed setups when working with heavier coating materials.
Shades can be mixed—Sand Camo is a great base for light natural blends and for brightening darker mixes. We suggest mixing smaller batches and testing one piece first.
recommended application (proven in practice):
-
preparation: clean and degrease the lead
-
heating: heat to approx. 160–200 °C (convection oven usually 10–15 min; torch only a few seconds—do not let the lead start to melt)
-
applying:
-
fluid bed: best for batches; steady airflow matters (hence Hailea ACO 208)
-
quick dip into powder: dip hot lead briefly and pull out; shake the container first
-
-
tapping: gently tap off excess for an even layer
-
curing: approx. 180 °C for 10–20 min for maximum durability
-
cooling: let it cool in air or hang it
tip for a camo look: while the base layer is still warm, lightly sprinkle a darker shade (or pre-mix shades) and cure.
