Product detailed description

The Sparkle Orange shade is a great choice when you want a bold, high-visibility finish and serious protection at the same time. It works perfectly on jig heads, pilkers, cheburashka weights, screw-in heads and terminal sinkers — especially where the lead takes constant abuse on the bottom.

The biggest advantage of a rubberized coating is its mechanical durability. The surface resists scuffs and wear much better, so your weights keep their finish longer even after repeated contact with rocks, seabed and fish teeth. In saltwater, it also helps fight oxidation — bare lead can quickly develop an ugly film and sticky feel. With a rubber coating, the lead is better protected and stays usable for longer.

In practice, rubber coating works best on “solid” lead pieces (jig heads, pilkers, terminal sinkers). Compared to standard powder paint it’s heavier and denser, so when using a fluid bed you want a stable, even airflow — that’s why an air pump like Hailea ACO 208 makes sense.

You can run Sparkle Orange as a standalone statement color or use it in mixes to brighten other tones. If you want even more “wow”, you can combine it with high-temp glitters as well.

recommended coating procedure (field-tested):

  1. prep: clean and degrease the lead (clean surface = better adhesion)

  2. heat: heat lead to about 160–200 °C (oven typically 10–15 min, torch only a few seconds — do not melt the lead)

  3. apply coating:

    • fluid bed: best for batches; rubberized coating needs stable airflow (Hailea ACO 208 recommended)

    • quick dip: dip hot lead briefly and pull out immediately; shake the powder container beforehand

  4. tap off excess: gently remove extra powder for an even layer

  5. cure: for maximum durability, cure at about 180 °C for 10–20 min

  6. cool down: let it cool in the air or hang it up

tip for a strong finish: don’t skip curing on saltwater sinkers and pilkers — that’s where abrasion and salt exposure really show.
