Product detailed description

The Sparkle Yellow shade is a great pick when you want a high-visibility finish and a tough protective layer at the same time. It’s commonly used for jig heads, pilkers, cheburashka weights, screw-in heads and terminal sinkers for sea fishing (paternosters, burbot-style sinkers, and other classics).

The key benefit of rubber coating is mechanical durability — it holds on well and resists abrasion from rocks, bottom contact and fish teeth. In saltwater, it also helps with a nasty long-term issue: saltwater speeds up lead oxidation (white residue, sticky surface, ugly finish). With a proper rubber coating, the lead stays protected and usable for much longer.

In real use, rubber coating performs best on “proper” lead pieces (jig heads, pilkers, terminal sinkers). The powder is denser than standard paint, so a fluid bed benefits from steady airflow — that’s why a reliable compressor like Hailea ACO 208 makes sense for consistent results.

You can also mix shades — Sparkle Yellow works well to brighten darker blends or build clean “visibility” tones. For an extra pop, you can combine it with SaBoFlex high-temperature glitters.

recommended coating procedure (field-tested):

  1. prep: clean and degrease the lead (clean surface = better adhesion)

  2. heat: heat lead to about 160–200 °C (oven typically 10–15 min, torch only a few seconds — do not melt the lead)

  3. apply coating:

    • fluid bed: best for batches; rubberized coating needs stable airflow (Hailea ACO 208 recommended)

    • quick dip: dip hot lead briefly and pull out immediately; shake the powder container beforehand

  4. tap off excess: gently remove extra powder for an even layer

  5. cure: for maximum durability, cure at about 180 °C for 10–20 min

  6. cool down: let it cool in the air or hang it up

tip for a strong finish: for sea terminal sinkers and pilkers, don’t skip curing — that’s where abrasion and saltwater resistance matters most.
