SaBoFlex Fluo Gold Orange is a concentrated fluorescent pigment paste for colouring plastisol when making soft-plastic lures. It produces a warm golden-orange fluorescent shade that sits between yellower high-visibility tones and classic orange. This is a colour concentrate for mixing into base plastisol – not ready-to-use plastisol, an airbrush colour or a surface coating.

Gold Orange is the trade name of the shade. The word Gold does not by itself indicate metallic pigment, pearlescence, nano glitter or any other sparkling effect. Depending on the dose, base plastisol, casting thickness and lighting, the finished colour may range from a lighter yellow-orange to a richer warm orange. The concentrate in the bottle and photographs viewed on a screen are therefore not exact colour references; the cooled test casting is decisive.

The designation Fluo identifies the colour as fluorescent. Fluorescence appears under suitable illumination and is not the same as phosphorescent afterglow in darkness. Fluo Gold Orange should therefore not be confused with SaBoFlex Glow in the Dark or with UV Activator, which is not a colour in its own right. The available product information does not specify the excitation wavelength, opacity, transparency or a separate metallic effect, so we do not attribute these properties without a technical data sheet.

For workshop use, SAF recommends adding Fluo Gold Orange in small increments to plastisol that is already hot and clear. The true intensity is harder to judge in cold, milky-looking base material; clear working plastisol lets you follow the change in shade as you mix. Always prepare the plastisol in accordance with its manufacturer’s temperature and safety instructions, and do not overheat it.

We do not specify a fixed number of drops per 100 g. Drop size varies with the dispensing nozzle, and the same dose can look different in different plastisols or casting thicknesses. Start with a small amount: a weak shade can be intensified, but colour already added cannot be removed. For repeatable batches, record the weight of plastisol, the amount of colour and every other additive used.

Fluo Gold Orange can colour the whole lure or create a high-visibility belly, tail, head or smaller strike point. In a laminate it provides warm contrast against black, brown, olive, green or smoke-coloured backs. Combine it with fluorescent yellow for a lighter transition, or with classic orange or Dark Orange for a deeper orange gradient. A suitable high-temperature gold, copper, black or holographic glitter can add another visual dimension, but mix the colour itself before adding the glitter.

The 50 g option is practical for trying the shade, smaller batches and workshops that use a broader colour palette. The 250 g pack suits regular production and offers a lower cost per gram. The 1000 g option is intended for larger repeat batches and an established recipe. Pack size does not change the concentration or method of use; with the large pack, pay particular attention to mixing its contents thoroughly from the bottom before every withdrawal.

Storage and packaging appearance

Colour paste or an additive and base plastisol are not the same material in storage. In SAF workshop experience, Fluo Gold Orange remains easier to process in cooler conditions than plastisol itself, but the manufacturer does not publish an exact minimum storage temperature. Do not therefore treat the product as frost-resistant. Store it upright, tightly closed and dry at a stable room temperature, away from direct sunlight, heat sources and frost. Allow a chilled, closed container to return naturally to room temperature before opening, then homogenise the contents thoroughly. Do not warm it on a radiator or hob, or in a microwave.

Packaging note: concentrated pastes and liquid additives may develop a light oily film around the thread or a mark on the label, particularly after transport, even when the bottle is closed. If there is no noticeable loss of contents, this surface trace does not affect the product’s use; we apologise if the label is affected. After dispensing, wipe the neck and thread, retighten the cap firmly and store the bottle upright, ideally in a washable tray or sealed bag.

What is the difference between Fluo Gold Orange, Fluo Orange and Fluo Dark Orange?

Gold Orange has a warmer, yellower to golden-orange character, classic Fluo Orange is the mid-orange option and Dark Orange has a deeper, darker orange tone. Dose, plastisol and lure thickness all affect the visible difference, so compare your preferred shade on cooled samples.

Does the word Gold mean a metallic or sparkling effect?

No. Gold is part of the shade name and describes its warm golden-orange character. It does not declare a metallic sheen, pearlescence or glitter. If you want sparkle, add a suitable high-temperature glitter separately and test the combination in a small batch first.

Is Fluo Gold Orange the same as Glow in the Dark?
