SaBoFlex Fluo Transparent Red is a concentrated fluorescent pigment paste for colouring plastisol in translucent red shades when making soft plastic lures. It can produce a light red tint or a richer high-visibility layer, while the material may still transmit light depending on dose and thickness. This is a colour concentrate designed to be mixed into plastisol – not ready-to-use plastisol, an airbrush paint or a surface coating.

Fluo Transparent Red denotes a transparent fluorescent red shade. A thin tail or low dose may appear lighter and brighter, whereas a thick body or higher concentration will create a deeper, optically more closed red. The base plastisol, additives and lighting also influence the final appearance. The concentrate in the bottle is therefore not an exact colour sample of the finished lure; assess a fully cooled test casting instead.

This colour is not the same as SaBoFlex Fluo Red, Fluo Japanese Red, Standard Red or Transparent Blood Red. Fluo Transparent Red is intended for translucent red colouring with a fluorescent character; the other names denote separate shades or ranges. The Fluo designation does not confirm phosphorescent afterglow, and in the absence of a technical data sheet we do not claim separately guaranteed UV activity, a metallic effect, nanoglitter or non-migrating properties.

For workshop use, SAF recommends adding this paste in small increments to plastisol that is already hot and clear. The red intensity and true transparency are difficult to assess in cold, milky plastisol. In clear plastisol at working temperature, you can see the change after each addition and increase the saturation gradually. Always prepare the plastisol in accordance with its manufacturer's instructions and do not overheat it.

We do not specify a universal number of drops per 100 g. Drop size, base plastisol, casting thickness and other additives can all change the result. Begin with a minimal amount, mix thoroughly after every addition and assess a completely cooled sample. Record the successful ratio, as colour that has already been added cannot be removed from the mixture.

Fluo Transparent Red suits a complete translucent body, red belly, flank, tail, head, gill detail or smaller high-visibility point. In a laminated lure, it forms a pronounced boundary against a black, smoke, purple or dark-blue layer; orange can be used for a warmer transition. Suitable heat-resistant gold, copper, red, black or holographic glitter can add character. Test every new recipe in a small batch first and, with layered lures, inspect the colour boundary again after the sample has rested.

The 50 g version is a practical choice for an initial trial, small batches and workshops using several red shades. The 250 g pack makes more sense for regular production or repeated use of the same recipe, offers a better price per gram and is easier to homogenise by shaking because of the greater mass of its contents. Pack size does not change the concentration or working method.

Storage and packaging appearance

The colour paste and base plastisol are not the same material in storage terms. In SAF workshop experience, Fluo Transparent Red remains easier to process in cooler conditions than plastisol itself, but the manufacturer does not publish a precise minimum storage temperature. Do not therefore treat the colour as frost-proof. Store it upright, tightly closed and dry at a stable room temperature, away from direct sunlight, heat sources and frost. If the closed bottle becomes chilled, allow it to return naturally to room temperature before opening, then shake it thoroughly. Do not warm it on a radiator or hotplate, or in a microwave.

Packaging note: with concentrated pigment paste, a light oily film may sometimes appear around the thread or leave a mark on the label, particularly after transport, even when the bottle is closed. Provided there is no visible loss of contents, this surface trace does not affect the use of the colour; we apologise if the label is affected. After dispensing, wipe the nozzle and thread, tighten the cap again and store the bottle upright, ideally in a washable tray or sealable bag.
