SaBoFlex Fluo Yellow is a concentrated fluorescent pigment paste for colouring plastisol when making soft lures. It provides a bright fluorescent yellow shade for complete bodies, bright bellies, tails, stripes and multi-colour castings. This is a colouring concentrate intended for mixing into base plastisol – it is not ready-to-use plastisol, airbrush paint or a surface coating.

Fluo Yellow produces a bright fluorescent yellow shade. The final appearance varies with the dose, base plastisol, casting thickness, other additives and lighting. The concentrate in the bottle and an on-screen photograph are therefore not exact colour references for the finished lure; use a thin cooled drop or a test casting made with your own plastisol.

The term Fluo identifies this product as part of the fluorescent range. It does not mean phosphorescent afterglow in darkness, nor does it independently guarantee a particular response under a specific UV lamp. Fluo Chartreusse is a separately named yellow-green shade, while Fluo Transparent Yellow/Green has its transparent character stated in the name. Standard Yellow belongs to the non-fluorescent standard range. These colours should not be treated as automatic substitutes for Fluo Yellow. Without a technical data sheet, we do not claim that it contains nanoglitter or has a metallic, pearlescent, precisely defined opaque or transparent, or non-bleed formulation.

For this pigment paste, SAF recommends adding small increments to plastisol that is already hot and clear. Its true intensity is difficult to judge in a cold, milky-looking base. In clear working plastisol, you can follow the shade as it develops and increase saturation gradually. Prepare the plastisol in accordance with its manufacturer's temperature and safety instructions and do not overheat it.

We do not specify a universal number of drops per 100 g. Drop size varies with the dispensing nozzle, and the same dose can look different in another plastisol or casting thickness. Begin with a small amount: a pale mixture can be coloured further, but added concentrate cannot be removed. For repeatable production, record the weight of plastisol, colour dose and every other additive.

Use Fluo Yellow throughout the body or for a bright belly, tail, head, stripe or compact strike point. It can be trialled in laminates with black, smoke, brown, green, orange, pearl or white. A suitable heat-resistant black, gold, green or holographic glitter can change the contrast and flash. Establish the yellow base first, add visual inclusions afterwards, and confirm the result in a small batch.

The 50 g option is practical for trying the shade, producing smaller batches or maintaining a broad workshop palette. The 250 g bottle is better suited to regular production or repeated recipes; the greater mass of paste also makes the complete bottle easier to homogenise by shaking. The 1000 g pack is intended for intensive use and larger repeat runs. Pack size does not change the concentration or recommended method of use.

Storage and condition of the packaging

The colour paste and base plastisol are not the same material from a storage perspective. In SAF workshop use, Fluo Yellow remains easier to handle in a cooler environment than plastisol itself, but the manufacturer does not publish a precise minimum storage temperature. Do not therefore treat the colour as frost-proof. Store it upright, tightly closed and dry at a stable room temperature, away from direct sunlight, heat sources and frost. Allow a chilled, unopened bottle to return naturally to room temperature before opening, then homogenise it thoroughly. Do not warm it on a radiator or hotplate or in a microwave.

Packaging note: Particularly after transport, a light oily film may appear around the thread of a concentrated pigment paste, or a mark may develop on the label even when the bottle is closed. Provided there is no evident loss of contents, this superficial trace does not affect use of the colour; we apologise if the label is marked. After dispensing, wipe the nozzle and thread, retighten the cap and store the bottle upright, ideally in a washable tray or sealed bag.

How does Fluo Yellow differ from Fluo Chartreusse?

Fluo Yellow is a distinct yellow shade; Fluo Chartreusse is a separately named yellow-green shade. Judge the practical difference on cooled castings made from the same plastisol, dose and lure thickness.

Is Fluo Yellow the same as Standard Yellow or Fluo Transparent Yellow/Green?

No. Standard Yellow belongs to the non-fluorescent standard range. Fluo Transparent Yellow/Green is a separate product whose transparent character is explicit in its name. Neither should be assumed to match Fluo Yellow.

Should Fluo Yellow be added to cold or hot plastisol?

SAF recommends adding it in small increments to plastisol that is already hot and in its clear working state. Mix after every addition and inspect a cooled drop or test casting before adding more.

How can I keep the yellow clean and bright?

Use a clean vessel and stirring tool without residues of blue, green, red or dark pigments. Establish the yellow on its own before adding other colours, and record every change to the recipe.

Which colours can form a useful laminate with Fluo Yellow?

Black, smoke or brown can create a strong dark boundary; white or pearl gives a lighter adjoining layer. Green or orange can create a closer transition. Test the chosen combination in a small casting first.

Does Fluo Yellow also glow in the dark or guarantee UV response?

Fluo identifies a fluorescent colour, not phosphorescent afterglow. The available manufacturer information does not separately guarantee performance under a particular UV lamp. Use Glow in the Dark when afterglow is the required effect.
