Detailed information

Product detailed description

Guideline NT11 Switch 11'6" #10/11 Hucho (6PC) is the heaviest and most specialised model in the NT11 Switch 6-PC range. It is built for anglers who need a short, extremely powerful switch / compact double-hand rod for Hucho Hucho, Atlantic salmon, King salmon, heavy river setups and situations where strength, control and pressure on the fish matter more than delicate all-round presentation.

This is not a universal switch rod. The 11'6" #10/11 Hucho is a targeted tool for big fish in demanding river environments. It makes sense when you need to cast heavy heads, heavy tips, large flies or bulky setups, but still want a shorter rod that can work in tighter places than a full-length salmon double-hander.

The action is deep progressive with Fast Recovery. The rod flexes deep enough to stay readable and user-friendly for spey casting, but the lower blank has a very strong power reserve. This is important when casting heavy line systems and even more important after the take, when a large fish has to be controlled in current, structure or limited river space.

The blank is built on T1100 CAP Technology, Guideline’s highest NT11 construction platform. It combines ultra-elastic 46T Low Resin Material, strong T1100 graphite, carbon-scrim reinforcement in a Complex Axial Pattern and high-strength resin technology. In practical fishing, this gives the rod low blank weight for its power class, very fast recovery, high strength under load and clean power transfer through the full blank.

The #10/11 Hucho model is designed for a recommended head weight of 46–52 g / 709–803 grains. That places it far above the lighter NT11 Switch models and gives it the authority needed for heavy sinking tips, large streamers, strong current and fish that require immediate pressure. It is especially relevant for Hucho Hucho fishing, but it also makes sense for powerful salmon fishing and selected tarpon situations where a heavy single-hand rod becomes too tiring or inefficient.

The 11'6" length is one of the key reasons why this rod exists. It stays shorter and more compact than a classic full-length double-hand rod, but still gives far more control and power than a heavy single-hand rod. On smaller or more technical rivers, that can be a major advantage. You get a strong short two-hand tool that can lift, turn over and control heavy systems without becoming unnecessarily long.

Size Length Recommended head weight Rod weight Character Best use
11'6" #10/11 Hucho 11'6" / 350 cm 46-52 g / 709-803 gr 163 g Hucho / heavy switch Hucho Hucho, big salmon, heavy tips, strong current

The NT11 Switch 11'6" #10/11 Hucho should be chosen when the lighter switch models are simply not enough. Compared with the #6/7, #7/8 and #8/9 versions, this rod is not about light presentation, stealth or smaller migratory fish. It is about turning over heavier heads, controlling larger flies, fishing sinking tips and applying real pressure to very strong fish.

For Hucho Hucho fishing, this logic is especially important. These fish are powerful, often targeted with large streamers and heavy setups, and frequently fished in rivers where you need a rod that is compact enough for the bank but strong enough for the fish. The #10/11 Hucho gives you that combination: short length, heavy line rating, deep flexing power and strong recovery.

The 6-piece construction makes the rod travel-friendly despite its power class. It is much easier to pack for trips, flights and mobile fishing than a traditional long double-hand rod. For travelling salmon, Hucho or heavy river anglers, that compact format is a real advantage without sacrificing serious blank strength.

The component level matches the flagship NT11 standard. The rod features FLOR-grade cork with reinforced rear grip and fighting butt, lightweight titanium stripping guides, titanium-coated running guides, a hard-anodized custom reel seat, matte satin carbon grey blank, subtle blue trim wraps, 6-piece construction, rod bag and protective tube. For added durability and purpose, the Hucho model uses high-quality stainless steel snake guides together with titanium-coated running guides.

Frequently Asked Questions – Guideline NT11 Switch 11'6" #10/11 Hucho (6PC)

Who is the NT11 Switch #10/11 Hucho made for?

It is made for anglers who need a short but very powerful switch / compact double-hand rod for Hucho Hucho, large salmon, heavy river setups, strong current and situations where a normal switch rod does not provide enough authority.

Is this rod suitable for regular trout or light salmon fishing?

No, not as a primary choice. For large migratory trout, steelhead, grilse or lighter salmon fishing, the #6/7, #7/8 or #8/9 NT11 Switch models make more sense. The #10/11 Hucho is a heavy specialist.

What line weight should I use?

The recommended head weight is 46–52 g / 709–803 grains. The rod is made for heavy compact heads, strong tips, large flies and demanding river fishing where turnover and power are critical.

Why is it called Hucho?

The rod is aimed at Hucho Hucho fishing, where anglers often need a short, powerful rod for large streamers, heavy setups and extremely strong fish in river environments.

Can it be used for salmon?

Yes. It is a strong option for Atlantic salmon, King salmon and other powerful salmon fishing situations where a compact but very strong two-hand / switch rod is useful.

How is it different from the NT11 Switch #8/9?

The #8/9 is a powerful salmon and heavy switch model, but still remains more versatile. The #10/11 Hucho is heavier, more specialised and built for the largest fish, heaviest heads and strongest setups in the NT11 Switch range.

Why choose this instead of a full double-hand rod?

The 11'6" length is shorter and more compact than a traditional full-length salmon double-hander. It is easier to use on smaller rivers, in tighter bank situations and when you want heavy line power without excessive rod length.
