Your Mold F197 lead mold produces inline leads with a through passage in a smooth pear profile. The 5 cavities have nominal casting weights of 20 / 30 / 40 / 50 / 60 g. You can use the required cavity without filling all the others. This lets you make a supply matched to your tackle and the fishing location.
F197 combines a smooth pear profile with 3.2 mm guide pins. It shares the 20–60 g range of F115 but creates a wider passage for a liner fitted afterwards. Compare F30 for a hexagonal inline lead at the same weights.
A rounded or elongated body changes how the lead contacts the bottom. Actual holding depends on the slope and hardness of the bottom, current and line tension. Use the lightest load that gives the required control and keep within the casting limits of your rod and complete tackle. A mold shape alone does not guarantee a casting distance or a fixed fishing depth.
Fit the included 5 metal guide pins, Ø 3.2 mm, before casting. They form the through passages and are withdrawn after the metal solidifies; they are not part of the finished fishing rig. Once the casting is cool and deburred, fit a separately sold 3 mm PVC tube in Dark brown or Dark green. Check the tube ends and free line movement in the assembled rig. Do not pour molten metal around a PVC tube. Finish the cleaned casting with a rubber lead coating according to the coating manufacturer’s instructions.

From the F197 mold to a finished lead
- Prepare a clean, completely dry mold, inserts and tools. Choose the required cavity.
- Seat the specified removable 3.2 mm guide pin and check complete, secure closure without force.
- Cast according to the instructions for the mold, metal and melting equipment. Keep all plastic parts away from molten metal.
- After solidification, remove the casting safely, withdraw the guide pin and allow the lead to cool.
- Deburr the passage and fit the chosen PVC liner into the cooled casting.
- Weigh and inspect the first casting, then test the complete rig before continuing with a larger batch.
Nominal grammes refer to one casting, not the total output of the mold. Actual weight varies with the metal and finishing. A through hole alone does not guarantee a free-running or drop-off rig. Check the tube or passage, swivel, stops and hooklink together. Coating and other finishing accessories are sold separately.
Casting safety
- Never pour molten metal into a damp mold. Inserts and tools must also be completely dry.
- Wear safety glasses and suitable protective gloves; use a stable, heat-resistant workplace with effective ventilation.
- Follow the instructions for the mold, metal and melting equipment. A mold temperature limit is not a recommended pouring temperature.
- Do not eat, drink or smoke while working with lead. Keep casting equipment separate from kitchen utensils and wash your hands afterwards.
