SAF Carp Horizont lead mold produces leads with a cast-in fixed loop in a hexagonal pear profile. Choose one of the 60–150 g variants. Each supplied mold has one cavity for its selected nominal weight. This lets you make a supply matched to your tackle and the fishing location.
SAF Carp Horizont combines an elongated hexagonal profile with one cavity at the selected weight. The 60–150 g variants are separate molds rather than ten cavities in one product. Compare SAF Carp Long Cast for another elongated profile, or F86 and F85 for several weights in one mold.
Flat sides can reduce rolling compared with a smooth rounded lead. Actual holding depends on the slope and hardness of the bottom, current and line tension. Use the lightest load that gives the required control and keep within the casting limits of your rod and complete tackle. A mold shape alone does not guarantee a casting distance or a fixed fishing depth.
Use a Your Mold size 1 loop as the casting insert. The insert must match the cavity and its retaining groove. The buried legs anchor the loop while its exposed eye remains accessible for attaching the rig. Check seating and complete closure without force before filling the mold. Finish the cleaned casting with a rubber lead coating according to the coating manufacturer’s instructions.

From the SAF Carp Horizont mold to a finished lead
- Prepare a clean, completely dry mold, inserts and tools. Choose the required cavity.
- Seat the specified Your Mold size 1 loop and check complete, secure closure without force.
- Cast according to the instructions for the mold, metal and melting equipment. Keep all plastic parts away from molten metal.
- After solidification and safe cooling, remove the lead and trim the sprue.
- Check that the attachment is firmly anchored and its exposed part remains functional.
- Weigh and inspect the first casting, then test the complete rig before continuing with a larger batch.
Nominal grammes refer to one casting, not the total output of the mold. Actual weight varies with the metal and finishing. Use a suitable rig connection and check how the complete system behaves if the main line breaks. Coating and other finishing accessories are sold separately.
Casting safety
- Never pour molten metal into a damp mold. Inserts and tools must also be completely dry.
- Wear safety glasses and suitable protective gloves; use a stable, heat-resistant workplace with effective ventilation.
- Follow the instructions for the mold, metal and melting equipment. A mold temperature limit is not a recommended pouring temperature.
- Do not eat, drink or smoke while working with lead. Keep casting equipment separate from kitchen utensils and wash your hands afterwards.

How many leads does one mold produce?
One lead per pour at the selected variant weight. The other weights are separate mold variants.
Which insert is required?
Use the specified Your Mold size 1 loop. Check its fit before casting; matching size numbers from another series do not prove interchangeability.
What is supplied?
The aluminum mold and 100 free SAF size 1 universal stainless steel loops. Further inserts and finishing accessories are sold separately.
When should I choose a different mold?
