The Your Mold F210 lead casting mold produces round jig heads in 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40 g with a cast collar for retaining the soft bait. Five separate cavities let you prepare different weights in the same head design. The collar, also called the bait neck, is cast together with the head and helps hold the front of the soft bait on the hook. F210 is a practical option for paddle-tail shads and other soft bait bodies with enough thickness at the front. Use it for freshwater zander and pike fishing, or lighter saltwater fishing for pollack, coalfish and cod in Norway when the chosen weight is sufficient for the local current and drift.

During rigging, the front of the soft bait slides over the lead collar. The body must accept the collar without damage or misalignment; forcing a thin or delicate nose over it can tear the lure. This retaining method can be practical for a bulkier shad nose, while a slim soft jerkbait calls for a comparison with the F207 design without a bulky collar. Even a securely retained lure must stay straight and keep its moving section free. A suitable adhesive may help, depending on the lure material; check its compatibility. The collar is part of the finished head. When trimming, remove the excess metal from the pouring gate, leaving this bait-retaining feature in place.

The round head and the active shad tail perform different roles in one rig: the head provides weight ahead of the body, while the tail creates its own action during the retrieve and fall. Work the lure in short hops above the bottom or retrieve steadily through the water column. With a curly-tail lure, use its waving tail; with a soft jerkbait, rely more on rod-tip movement and changes of speed. Choose the lightest head that still provides reliable lure feedback. The 5 g steps allow gradual increases: 20–25 g for a slower fall with sufficient control, and 30–40 g in stronger current or drift, or with greater lure resistance. Depth alone does not determine the right weight. Lift the head in time over uneven ground; retaining the soft bait securely does not protect the complete rig from snags.

F210 is specified for VMC 7161 in size 6/0 or VMC 5150 in 5/0. The range includes the VMC 7161 BN 6/0 jig hook. Forged high-carbon steel VMC 7161 hooks use a Needle Sharp point and a 60° bend towards the eye. VMC 5150 has a different layout with a 90° bend. Do not automatically carry over the VMC 5150 6/0 listed for F207 to F210: the supplier specifies only 5/0 here. Lay the actual hook against the soft bait and check point position and clearance above the body for a hookset. More head weight does not mean a larger hook. Changing from 20 to 40 g cannot make up for insufficient clearance around a thicker lure body.

SAF PLASTI-X BRAVO 15 cm provides an active paddle tail, while X-RAY 20 cm relies more on rod action. Within the ZOOM range, consider G-TAIL or Magnum II, but always check body thickness at the front, hook reach and the actual fit over the collar. Two lures of the same length need not fit equally well. Choose nymph-style bodies only in a size that accepts this collar and a 5/0 or 6/0 hook; small, delicate nymphs need smaller rigging. Finish the head with powder paint or a suitable flexible coating for lead, keeping the eye clear. If even 40 g is insufficient, compare the heavier F209 among the jig head molds. Before changing molds, check its own hook specification and collar dimensions.

Casting weights and hook compatibility

The table summarises the weights and hooks specified for the mold as a whole. The supplier does not list individual combinations by cavity. Before casting, check the precise seating of the actual hook and that the mold closes fully. VMC 5150 6/0 is not listed as a confirmed option here.

Choose hooks, coatings and soft baits separately; they are not automatically included with the mold. The bait collar forms during casting, so check that it fills completely on the first test piece. Weigh the finished head after trimming. A different metal produces a different weight in the same cavity. Before making a larger batch, test the finished head with the actual soft bait body.

What is the main difference between F210 and F207?

Can I use VMC 5150 6/0 in F210?

The supplier specifies VMC 5150 only in 5/0, or VMC 7161 6/0, for F210. The VMC 5150 6/0 listed for F207 does not confirm compatibility with this mold.

Does the collar fit every soft bait?

Not automatically. The lure needs enough thickness at the front and must rig straight without tearing. For a nose that is too thin, consider a head without a bulky collar.

When should I move from 20 to 40 g?

Increase the weight when current, drift or lure resistance reduces control with a lighter head. Move up gradually in 5 g steps and assess the retrieve. Depth alone is not decisive.

Do I have to cast all five cavities at once?

No. Prepare only the weight you need. Check the first casting for weight, collar fill, hook anchoring and soft bait fit.
