The Your Mold F133 lead casting mold lets you cast round jig heads in 9, 16, 20, 30 and 42 g without a cast lead collar behind the head. It covers a broad range for soft bait fishing, from lighter presentations to situations that call for considerably more weight. The resulting head suits shads, curly-tail lures and soft jerkbaits whose front end you do not want to stretch over a thick lead collar. Use it for freshwater zander, perch and pike, as well as suitable saltwater spinning applications.

Use 9 g where light weighting is enough and you want a longer fall. The 16 and 20 g heads provide the next steps for adjusting speed and contact. Move up to 30 or 42 g when current, drift or setup resistance increases. Five weights do not mean five fixed fishing depths. In Norway, you can use these heads for pollack, coalfish and cod when conditions allow. In a river or reservoir, adjust weight to the intended retrieve and lure size.

The collarless design leaves more room inside the front of the soft bait: you slide the body onto the hook shank without pushing it over a bulky lead protrusion. This alone does not guarantee that the bait will stay in place. Test straight rigging on the finished casting and, depending on the lure material, add a suitable adhesive at the front joint if needed. A thin soft jerkbait and a deeper-bodied shad need different amounts of clearance in the hook bend. The absence of a collar does not replace correct hook sizing or a check that the tail moves freely.

SAF specifications list VMC 5150 hooks in 2/0, 3/0, 4/0 and 5/0 for F133. There is a specific restriction for 5/0: only the 16, 20, 30 and 42 g cavities, excluding 9 g. The 5150 series uses high-carbon steel, a Needle Cone point, a Barbarian bend and an enlarged eye with a 90° front bend. Lay the hook against the lure to check where the point will emerge and how much space remains above the body. The other sizes are listed for the mold as a whole; this does not mean every size can be combined with every cavity.

Compare paddle-tail bodies from the SAF PLASTI-X BRAVO 10 cm category according to actual hook reach. With soft jerkbaits, use gentle hops and changes of speed. Lure length in centimetres alone does not confirm compatibility. Finish the head with a coating intended for lead and keep the hook eye clear. Casting weights and hook compatibility

The first row summarises the sizes listed for the mold as a whole; it is not an allocation of every combination to individual cavities. The second row defines the use of 5/0. Before each casting, test the actual hook in the dry mold and make sure it closes fully.

Choose hooks, coatings and other accessories separately; they are not automatically included with the mold. A first test casting helps you check cavity fill, hook anchoring and actual weight. The listed weights are for lead; using another metal changes the casting weight.

Frequently asked questions about F133

Why choose a head without a cast lead collar?

When you do not want to stretch the front of the soft bait over a bulky collar. The lure must still sit straight and stay on the hook. A suitable adhesive can help at the joint, depending on the lure material.

Does VMC 5150 in 5/0 also fit the 9 g cavity?

No. Size 5/0 is listed only for 16, 20, 30 and 42 g. For the 9 g cavity, use another listed hook size and test the actual hook in the dry mold.

Should I always use the largest hook with 42 g?

No. Head weight affects presentation, while hook size determines lure fit. Choose according to the lure body and check that the selected combination sits correctly in the mold.

When should I move from F133 to F126?

When you need 45–100 g and a VMC 5150 hook in 5/0 or 6/0 suits the lure. Base the change on setup control, current and drift.

Do I always have to cast a full set of five heads?

No. You can cast only the weights you need. Weigh the first pieces and test them with your chosen soft bait before preparing a larger batch.
