WFT Profi Deep Sea Leader 1.00 mm / 72 kg, 50 m is designed for heavy natural-bait traces and large sea lures. WFT supplies this leader monofilament with a winding method intended to reduce twist during dispensing. Use it for ling, hake and halibut on fish baits or as a separate terminal section ahead of a large jig. For this heavy-duty class we recommend crimped end connections with a suitable sleeve and tool.

Detailed information

Product detailed description

WFT Profi Deep Sea Leader 1.00 mm is material for substantial fish-bait traces and terminal leaders ahead of large jigs. It fits targeted ling, hake and halibut setups where a robust natural-bait rig or terminal section for bulky bait is required. Compared with 0.80 mm, the main emphasis is heavy leader use rather than a general tube-eel rig.

WFT supplies this sea-leader monofilament in a 50 m pack. The manufacturer describes a winding method intended to reduce twist as the material is dispensed. Let a cut section straighten and avoid introducing further turns during assembly. Pack length provides a reserve for homemade rigs; the completed trace works according to its layout and the quality of its connections.

SAF recommendation: Heavy natural-bait traces and large sea lures. Ahead of a large jig, prepare a separate terminal section long enough for lure movement and manageable handling. For natural baits, plan hook, bait and sinker positions before choosing end loops. Conventional knots become bulkier as diameter increases; for these heavy-duty ends, we recommend correctly matched crimped connections.

Neighbouring diameters and rig choice. For a primarily tied cod system, compare 0.80 mm. At 1.20 mm, the role moves into the heaviest traces for large ling and halibut; the increased diameter needs a clear purpose in the complete setup.

On a natural-bait trace, the fish bait should move without repeatedly twisting the body. Plan hook position, trace length and sinker placement together. With bulky bait, check its behaviour as the boat moves too. When used ahead of a jig, treat the lure’s hook arrangement as a separate design: a terminal leader between braid and jig is not automatically the stinger running along the soft body.

For this heavy-duty class we recommend crimped end connections. The sleeve bore must suit the actual diameter and material path through the loop; use the appropriate tool and procedure for that sleeve. An excessive crimp may damage the line, while an insufficient one may fail to hold it. Follow the component manufacturer’s guidance and test each new connection before fishing. A bulky conventional knot forced into a small eye is not the recommended solution here.

Do not convert the 72 kg label figure into a fish weight you can lift by the trace. Connections, hardware and wear affect the completed rig. Inspect the terminal section and areas beside eyes after bottom or fish contact. Cut away damaged line, rinse used sea rigs in fresh water and let them dry. Keep spare material away from heat and direct sunlight. Abrasion resistance is not guaranteed bite protection; choose an appropriate terminal material when sharp teeth require it.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

When should I choose WFT Profi Deep Sea Leader 1.00 mm?

Heavy natural-bait traces and large sea lures.

Can it be the body of a cod tube-eel rig?

Its main emphasis is a substantial natural-bait trace or terminal leader. For a conventional tied tube-eel system, also compare more appropriate finer versions in the range.

Should I tie or crimp this diameter?

For the heavy-duty use described here, we recommend crimped end connections with a suitable sleeve and tool. Bulky conventional knots forced into small eyes are not recommended.

Is the leader also a stinger?

No. The leader connects the main line to the lure; the stinger carries hooks along the soft body and needs its own suitable fittings.

Does 72 kg describe the strength of the complete rig?

No. It is a declared material figure; connections, components and wear affect the finished rig. It is not a fish weight that can be lifted by the line.

When should I rebuild the trace?

After cuts, rough spots, flattening or damage beside an eye or connection. Remove the damaged section and test the replacement end fitting.
