Your Mold F191 is an aluminum mold for casting three saltwater sinkers weighing 180, 200 and 220 g. Each cavity takes two size 1 wire loops, giving you a practical stepped range of heavier saltwater sinkers in a single mold.

Detailed information

Product detailed description

Your Mold F191 saltwater sinker mold is designed for casting your own saltwater sinkers in 180, 200 and 220 g sizes. The aluminum body contains three separate cavities, allowing you to cast the exact weight required for a particular rig or work through the mold’s full weight range as conditions change.

The 180 g cavity is the lightest option, 200 g covers the middle of the range and 220 g is the heaviest. In practice, we recommend using the lightest sinker that still keeps the rig under control and maintains reliable contact at the required depth. As the current, depth or line angle increases, you can move up to 200 or 220 g.

Each cavity takes two size 1 wire loops – one at the narrow end and one on the side of the sinker body. Six loops are therefore required when preparing all three cavities. In the SAF range, these components are listed as casting loops; the compatible size for this mold is #1.

Before your first pour

  1. Prepare a clean, completely dry mold, a suitable low-melting metal and two size 1 wire loops for each cavity you intend to use.
  2. Seat the loops in the prepared slots and check that they do not prevent the mold from closing fully.
  3. Close the mold firmly and secure it against opening or moving during the pour.
  4. Use a casting method and working temperature verified for the specific metal and melting equipment.
  5. Once the metal has fully solidified and cooled to a safe handling temperature, remove the sinker, trim the sprue and check that both loops are securely embedded.

Lead casting equipment overview

When all three cavities are filled, the nominal combined weight of the lead sinkers is 600 g. Allow a little extra material for the sprues and a practical working reserve. The stated weights of 180, 200 and 220 g are based on lead. When using another low-melting metal or alloy, the finished weight may change according to the material’s density.

The essential compatible components for this mold are size 1 wire loops. Choose the casting metal, melting equipment, casting tools and any surface-finishing system according to your working method and the instructions supplied with the individual materials.

Lead casting safety

  • Never pour molten metal into a damp mold.
  • Wear safety glasses and suitable heat-resistant gloves, and work on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
  • Ensure effective ventilation and follow all instructions supplied with the metal and melting equipment.
  • Keep food, drink and smoking out of the work area; keep lead-handling tools separate from household utensils and wash your hands thoroughly after work.

Frequently asked questions about the F191 mold

Can I cast only one of the available weights?

Yes. The mold has three separately filled cavities, allowing you to cast only the selected 180, 200 or 220 g size.

How do I choose between 180, 200 and 220 g?

Start with the lightest weight that still keeps the rig under control. If the current, depth or line angle makes it difficult to maintain contact, move up to 200 or 220 g.

Which wire loops fit this mold?

The manufacturer specifies size 1 wire loops. Each sinker requires two loops, so six are needed when preparing all three cavities.

Can I use a metal other than lead?

The manufacturer specifies the mold for low-melting metals with working temperatures up to approximately 500 °C. This figure is not a recommended pouring temperature; the correct setting always depends on the particular metal and melting equipment. Using another material may also change the finished weight of the sinker.

How should I prepare the mold before first use?

The mold must be clean, completely dry and correctly closed. Before pouring, also check that the loops are seated accurately. The manufacturer does not specify any special preheating procedure or mandatory release agent for the F191.
